I had a layover in Dulles airport and wanted to grab a bite that’s better than all the mediocre offerings on premises. Found... this place nearby. Absolutely perfectly executed medium rare ribeye garnished with delicious mash and some kind of butterysauce on top. Paired it with dirty martini which was excellent. At $44 for a steak the place is certainly not cheap. But theservice was great, the vibe is awesome and the food was worth it. Read more
We arrived on a Monday about 5PM. It was not crowded at all. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. Vibrant and inviting. Our... 19-year-old server was very eager but not up to par. He knew nothing about the wine or food which he readily admitted. Weordered a bottle of wine which was retrieved fairly quickly. He had a terrible time opening the bottle of wine to the point ofbeing awkward. We avoided making eye contact and fiddled around with the silverware. My husband was “this close” to justgrabbing the corkscrew and doing it himself. He finally managed to get it done and took our food order. Then he disappeared.Someone else delivered our food. After we were done eating, he came by to see if we needed anything. We had placed the dirtydishes right on the edge of the table, but he didn’t pick any of them up. Okay, I get that finding decent help is a strugglethese days. What about actually training these people before throwing them into the fire? The service left a very badimpression. Onto other things. The wine list has many choices, and the prices are $36 and up. We had the Rodney Strong ChalkHill for $44 which is a bit high IMO. For entrees, my spouse ordered the chicken risotto, and I ordered the Caesar salad with 5grilled shrimp. The chicken risotto was so-so. The chicken was a bit dry and a little grisly - like a chicken tender with thatweird tough piece. The risotto was cooked fine but had an overwhelming chicken broth taste. The Caesar salad was typicalalthough over dressed for my tastes (in their defense, you could get the dressing on the side). The shrimp was large butovercooked, so it was rubbery. After requesting our check, we waited and waited. At least 10 minutes or more passed beforefinally getting the tab. Sigh. Hopefully, they are able to work out the wrinkles. We've been here 5 times before and it's been routinely good. Last night's experience not so much. Steak that was ordered... medium rare came to the table well done. And it was steak frite so it was sliced....and thus one wonders how the cook missedthe mark by such a wide margin. The meal was re-made but the wait....although not terrible....kinda put a damper on the dinner. A side note.....the chimichurri placed on top of the meat overpowered the steak flavor completely. I’ve been to several Burton’s but the experience at this Sterling location tops them all. Mackenzie was our server and... really made us feel welcomed. Such a warm, sweet personality & very efficient! My friend and I were going to wait for seatingbut to our surprise, they allow you to order food and drinks from their outdoor patio/fireplace which was PERFECT! Despite thembeing busy, our orders came out so quickly! Another surprise was the short rib grilled cheese being back on the menu. The ribwas juicy and tender, which paired well with the melted cheese and caramelized onions. And most importantly, the bread wastoasted perfectly and held the sandwich together VERY well. Loved the elevated comfort food with a cozy vibe to match. 10/10highly recommend visiting this location! Read more
