This a complete revision of my previous review where I gave the food a 5* and service a 1*. During COVID we have basically not... gone out or done much take out. Well we returned after about a year and a half and everything is five stars. Everyone was reallynice and we were able to chat as I waited. But to get to the part about the food. The BBQ is great. We live around the cornerand smell the smoke everyday. I just brought home a half pound and took a pre-dinner taste. It has that awesome hickory smelland taste. This is great Lexington style BBQ. I also grabbed a dozen hush puppies. They make their own batter and scoop it intothe oil when you place your order. They are nice and crispy inside... they are a bit salty, but this works well with the Que,slaw, and sauce. I will admit I haven't had the slaw there since I always make my own. Finally the prices are very reasonable.While they have gone up a bit in price (but who hasn't); but, it hasn't been much. We got a half pound of que, a bottle of sauceand a dozen hush puppies for $17. But we will definitely be going back again soon. Thanks for the Que!!!! Read more
They promote Lexington style bbq and it?s not even close. It was the most bland bbq and bbq sauce I have ever had. The tomato on... the hamburger sandwich was bigger than the piece of meat. The baked beans are straight out of the can with no seasoning. Idon?t normally post reviews like this BUT for $60 for a family of four, it isn?t worth and it and maybe I can save someone fromwasting their money. Traveling through NC. This was a solid bbq place. Had the pulled pork plate and it was solid. Staff was friendly too. Only... negative was the sweet tea. It didnt have much flavor or taste to it but great experience. Read more

Fairly solid Carolina style pulled pork. Meat was a bit on the dry side. Hush puppies were good, sides were alright.

I love this barbecue place. I started going there in high school, back in the early seventies. A nostalgic part of Statesville.... They have great barbecue, not to mention other menu choices... To wrap it up in one thought...Just good food and good people. Read more
