I've stopped by this place a few times and have enjoyed my experience every time. I have always liked chocolate covered Oreos... when they are prepared by a small business such as this. I am a big cake lover and will eat almost any cake. I was appalled when I ate a birthday cake that was made from here. I asked... the host what flavor the cake was and she replied "it is suppose to be coconut." Never would I have guessed coconut. I lookedaround to see how many were enjoying the cake when I noticed not many finished their first bite. I can see in the hostess facethat not even she knew what the cake tasted like in till that very moment. She even apologized to all of the guest for theunpleasant tasted. I have known the host for many years and know exactly how she felt. I am doing this review for her and herfamily. I hope after reading all of the bad reviews for the cake you will at least refund them half of the money and not offerthem something cheap as in donuts or chocolates. On Fridays, La Fresca offers a Pecan Pie. Their pie is different - the center section is not as sweet and has small pieces of... pecans to highlight its flavor. This is definitely one of best pecan pies that I've ever had. Read more
Had a coconut birthday cake ordered for my sons first birthday. The cake did not taste anything like coconut. It turned out to... be a plan POUND CAKE. Never did I order a pound cake. I was confused. Wonderful European style baked breads and treats. The breads have a real crust - especially the sour dough. Saturday morning... treat your family to some freshly baked bagels. And be sure to try the vanilla/orange and the chocolate pizzelles (a thin wafer) for two delightful treats. The store also now carries very fine teas. I was going to be in the Statesville area for my son's wedding and was looking for cookie trays for the reception. I also needed... some of the cookies to be gluten free. What a delicious selection of cookies the bakery made up for us! Our favorites were thedecorated sugar cookie hearts and the Italian wedding.
