Excellent food and good attentive service! Our family lives on Staten Island. We visited Sofia’s Taqueria on Amboy Rd on... June 20, 2022 for a late Father’s Day celebration. The food was delicious and service was quick, polite, attentive. Somehighlights from our order: Appetizers: Sophia’s Secret guacamole - very fresh and delicious, must have! Five Alarm guacamole- good, but didn’t meet heat level expectations we had based on its description. It was very mild and we found Sophia’sSecret overall tasting better. Bay Street Corn - delicious! Crispy Wings - pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. Mains: FishTacos - perfectly done and delicious! Pescado Yucatán - fish fresh, juicy and fluffy, grilled to perfection! Rice was alsogreat with nice cilantro note. And chipotle-corn salsa nicely complimented both. Overall- delicious! Steak Fajita - well made.My son liked it. Steak Burrito - my son said it was a good one, but unremarkable - 4 out of 5. Drinks: Mexican Mule - ok, butwas way too sweet for my palate. Strawberry-mint margarita - great. We had a few of them. Raspberry-mango margarita - good, butstrawberry was better. Desserts: Cookie butter tres leches - very good. Mexican chocolate mousse cake - definitely pass on thisone. I didn’t find any mousse there. Would rather try strawberry-Nutella empanadas. Keep in mind the restaurant has a hugeselection of hot sauces, some if not most of which they make in house. For some reason they don’t advertise them but the listis available online and you may ask for them. I tried three sauces and they were very tasty, being a great addition to the maincourse. We highly recommend this restaurant. It's very good and we’ll certainly be back! Thanks! Read more
Went for Sunday breakfast. Great menu with lots of choices. There coffee is delicious. Food portions are huge! I had the waffles... al pastor with pineapple salsa. Yum!!!! Service leaves a little to be desired...our waiter was sweet, but never really checkedon us, asked if we needed more coffee, and the place was not that busy. Read more
Second time visiting this spot after enjoying it the first time and we left incredibly grossed out and disappointed. The wings... were so dry with barely any meat on them. But the worst part was the quesadilla that had a sharp black hair sticking out ofit???? How horrifying! I don’t know how their food quality became so bad so quickly. Definitely never coming back here againand beware of your food if you dare to eat here. Read more
Our waiter and the staff was very attentive. There was no wait for our table. We made a brunch reservation. You can order... bottomless mimosas for brunch without ordering brunch items. The food was good. I highly recommend the empanadas. I like thehand painted restroom. Read more

My partner and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated at a table and shortly after served complimentary chips... and salsa. The salsa was very chunky and the tomatoes tasted fresh and had that homemade quality to it which I loved. It was ourfirst time here and I was going to order tacos but our waiter suggested the birria quesadilla. It wasn't on the menu oradvertised anywhere but our waiter suggested it and mentioned that it was their special of the day. I decided to get thatinstead as it sounded like a better deal as it came with consome and was $2 cheaper than the tacos I was going to order, and wowam I glad I did! My partner and I really liked the consome. It did come with carrots which I thought was a weird addition but itstill tasted very rich and flavorful. The quesadilla was the right amount of cheesy and also super flavorful. We also got thebay street corn which tasted great but could've been a tad creamier. The reason I took off one star is because, when we wereseated, we were shown to a table and when we requested a booth, we were told that Friday nights are usually busy so theycouldn't give us a booth. There were only a few other tables being served when we arrived and literally every booth in therestaurant was empty. Plus, two couples came in shortly after we were seated and they both were given booths! Even though theservice was great otherwise, that one thing was pretty annoying. Read more
The interior and design is very good, excellent. Service was good. Food lacks a little more to be desire. The worst was the slow... cooked pork. Definitely not slow cooked and if it is they're doing it so wrong. There's freezer burn taste on it so it isdefinitely not fresh. The best part was the nacho with chilli. the other food is really not that good. the fried chicked waseven bad. I don't know how you mess up fried chicken. Over seasoned. the bill came out to over $150 for 4 people. wouldn'trecommend this place. Read more
