We ended up staying somewhere else. Looked like a great camp ground for tent camping but I realized they ?never run out of tent... camping? because they let people pitch a tent wherever they want. I called ahead to determine how often the run out of theirfirst come first serve camp sites and they stated they never do. Upon arrival on a Friday afternoon we were told they were busybut there were still sites available but we might not get a picnic table (not a big deal to us). I was told it was nonrefundable, which was fine, but AFTER I paid I was told if we couldn?t find a set campsite we were welcome to pitch our tentwherever we could find space. We drove the entire campground and could not find a site that would give us more than 6 feet fromboth a fire and the next tent. I understand that they were hosting a large event/group and I do not fault them for that, buttelling someone at check in that there are spots when there aren?t and then not refunding them when YOU have sold too many sitesis irresponsible. We ended up at a great camp site with good spacing between sites, beautiful views and fantastic hosts - RedRiver Gorge Campground on Star Gap Road. Read more

We really enjoyed our stay, we stayed in the primitive campsites. Showers and bathrooms are very clean the grounds are clean. My... only complaint was the lake is not really a true lake it is more like a pond alot of standing water which caused a lot ofmosquitos we managed to get by with bug spray and the fire. This wouldn't keep me from coming back tho because we willdefinitely will come back. Read more

Going back to Callies, yeah; I know so. What a great campground! Local to so much beauty (including their land and lake),... Callies is a peaceful; friendly; clean; friendly spot to call home. The office has EVERYTHING YOU NEED. Legit, ride up on amotorcycle with nothing but money and a desire to stay. They have the rest. Need a tent, sleeping bag, head lamp, kick butthome cooked meal (ask for the Charles special - a hot ham and cheese biscuit and a coffee. Uh Maze Ing!), tooth brush, coldbeer, fishing pole, snow cone, I mean EVERYTHING on site. Friendly staff. Amazingly kind, dedicated, family owned and run goodpeople place! No joke. Clean! Clean showers, clean lots, clean office. Fun evening events by the fire pits. It?s a happyplace to vacation with friends and family. Tons to do on and off site. ???? out of ???? this place and these people areawesome! Read more

We stayed here last weekend with family and friends. First off, Callies is probably the nicest campground we've ever had the... pleasure to visit. The grounds were clean and very well maintained. The camping spots spacious and not set too close to theother campers. There is a little rock firepit in each spot which, I found to be a nice touch. There is a pretty lake full ofLilly pads in the center of the campground. It also has several small docks that one can walk out on for a nice view or to dropa fishing line. There is also a small beach and swimming area along with a nice playground for those with small kids. Anotherthing I really like was the wooden swing that sits in front of the lake. We visited the camp store and bought some cutet-shirts and while we waited on our lunch orders, we chatted with Callie. She was a very nice person who really loves hercampground and it shows! One other thing, this campground was quiet and peaceful even though there was a lot of people staying.Everyone was nice and respectful. We will definitely recommend and will be back sometime in near future. Read more

Stayed here with our trailer for a weekend at the music festival in Slade. Unfortunately, we ended up quarantined after... learning of covid exposure which had nothing to do with our trip. We met some nice neighbors and gave them our festival ticketsand they said they had a blast! Callies is a cute campground with clean camping and sites. We did not enter the bathrooms orstore due to our exposure. Some campsites of course are better in my opinion like site 24 25, 26 which are on the pond side. Others in the trees have electric only but looked like they were in a beautiful spot (50 - 53). Other primitive spots werebeautiful in the trees. They offer volleyball nets with sand area, a small playground for kids, firewood was expensive so youmay wanna bring your own. Also, not a lot of shade yet from newly planted trees so bring an awning of some sort if weather isto be hot. Prices were 25 for water and electric and 30 for full hook ups. Dogs are allowed bit must be leashed at all times. Plenty of off-roaders here with jeeps and quads etc. Read more
