Pretty upset with this visit that will likely be my last. Capt Benny has Been our family spot for over 17 years, we drive 35 min... one way to get there. My 4 year old chose to have his bday dinner here, only to have a server tell me that the manager says wecan?t sing happy birthday and eat a cupcake we brought from home for him. Pretty disappointed in the sequence of events. Picksomewhere else to celebrate your bday if you want more than the 2 desserts they offer. Additionally. The manager stands andwatches the guest needing things (watched my whole family eat a calamari app on napkins cause she wouldn?t bring us plates)while the lone waitress runs around trying serve all the people. Very good Oysters by the bar. Micheladas are on point. $1 off beer till 6pm for happy hour. Gumbo was good, though rice is... already mixed in. Shrimp diablo was good. Not a big fan of their stuffed jalapenos though. They have a fried catfish special ifyou are a fan of catfish. Good for a quick meal. Service is nice and straight forward. Simple. Good. Read more
I've been coming here for over 2 decades, maybe even longer when they were on Wilcrest and 59. Best seafood gumbo in town, fresh... oysters on ice, great Micheladas and their catfish and shrimp never disappoint. Whenever we have out of town family members orfriends that come to visit we always take them here and they always love it! Read more
Oysters were a hit! They don't have Happy Hour oysters anymore so we payed regular price. We had alligator nuggets for an... appetizer and shared a combo basket. The Tilapia was a little mushy but the breading was cooked well. I think it needed a bitthicker piece to cook evenly. Regardless, I would ret Captain Benny's and will return to try something else. There really wasn't anything going on so that must be a register OK service also a 4 star food was 3 Star. They are definitely... a little skimpy on their French Fries. Also way way over Priced for the quality of food. If in going to spend 18 for catfishand shrimp ill go to papadeaux next time or save 8 buck and go to manbos. Read more
