Reviews for Ohana-Ya in St. Albert, AB
Amazing place! takoyaki was incredible! salmon super fatty! Even the white fish was very soft! Gy?za feels homemade! Rice made... me go back to Japan! Tonkatsu was super crunchy! Even the salad seasoning was awesome! It is more expensive but you pay for whatyou get, very fair I'd say! Down side I would say there were some minor mistakes, Tonkatsu was little bit on the salty side andthe salmon was a little bit overcooked and lacked salt, but didn't make us feel like it was not worth it! Dine in is a lotbetter than take out, for take out hot and cold were mixed so they both didn't taste the best. You must dine in! Read more
Takeout service was good as they had our order ready ahead of time. However, the sushi was just okay and they didn't have toro... on their menu. The yellow tail was suspect as it didn't taste quite right and I paid the price this morning on the toilet. Thebeef takaki was marginal as it was not sliced thin enough and a couple of pieces were tough and chewy. No seaweed was with thedish and it was obvious that the beef had not been thawed properly. After reading some of the owner's responses to criticism, Irecommend to avoid this place unless you're really into ramen which apparently they excel at. Better sushi can be had at otherrestaurants. Terrible experience, they were completely out of ramen and didn?t mention it until we both decided to order some. We could not... order the rolls we wanted either because they don?t make them until after 4 (not indicated on menu). After finally finding menuitems we can actually order, they were fine. Not very flavourful at all. Will not return. Read more
Very friendly and fast service. The lady helped us to get a special combo meal instead of ordering two individual dishes. My... wife enjoyed the grilled salmon sushi there. Tan tan ramen was good. Read more
As an explorer, here's my spin... staying at nearby hotel, delighted to find a sushi joint. Located in a strip mall, parking... readily available, atmosphere good, service good, dish I ordered was good, value good. Read more
Finally got around to trying this restaurant out, primarily to see what a sushi castle is and it did not disappoint, along with... all the other items we had ordered. Will definitely be recommended this joint to my friends as well as making this a regularstaple. Service was phenomenal and flavour was on point. Read more
Normally don?t write review. Just couldn?t help but writing one though after noticing an excellent Japanese restaurant in... Edmonton/St. Albert being victimized and slandered here in Google review over the past week by either anti-mask cyber bullies ora competitor. Japan being my favorite vacation destination, I?ve travelled there a handful of times. The Japanese food has abig part in making me going back again and again, and will be in the future as well. When I am home and craving for Japanese,Ohana-Ya is my Go To in Edmonton. I have tried pretty much all Japanese restaurants in Edmonton and this is the place I alwayscome back to over the past 10 years. The food here are fresh, made with care, and of great quality. With the geographiclocation of Alberta, the quality of some of the seafood will never be as good as fresh-off-the-ocean seafood from Japan. However, Ohana-Ya?s are as good as they get here. They quite often have express air shipment of a variety of fresh seafood fromJapan and other parts of the world that are absolutely fantastic. My personal favorites are bluefin tuna, uni (sea urchin),large Japanese scallop, and the Super Dynamite roll. And their Ramen has improved over the years to a point where it would fullysatisfied my ramen craving during cold weather. The service here is always wonderful and everyone here serves with a smile.Their politeness and mindfulness towards the customers remind me of the service of the restaurants in Japan. During this lastlittle while with the pandemic, rather than dining in, I?ve been ordering take-out basically every second week. Whenever I wentto pick up my order, I noticed how they have created extra space between tables with maybe a 30 to 40% of normal capacityfollowing public health bylaws and guidance. And they seems to fill up all available tables when I normally come pickup onFriday or Saturday evenings. I feel very safe going in for pick-up with everyone wearing mask whenever not eating at the Read more
We showed up for lunch but they were closed. Only doing take out. We said we'd be back for dinner but they welcomed us to stay.... My wife and I had a wonderful meal with the restaurant to ourselves. The service was still great! Read more
