Absolutely a disgrace to Italian food. It took over an hour to get our food despite a half empty restaurant and fully staffed... staff. We asked for some bread because I?m pregnant and literally gave us some Walmart buns that were toasted. Tasted likecardboard. Even this took 15 mins. 6 adults on our table and not a single one of us had a good meal. Pasta marinara wastasteless and watery with pasta undercooked - health hazard especially when you?re pregnant. Stuffed mushroom were gross! Youonly get one mushroom for $9!!!! All of us left our food uneaten aside from a few bites. When we approached the manager to lether know of our experience she was extremely rude and nonchalant about the entire thing showing that this happens frequently. She kept repeating how her other reviews prove that they have good food (which you can see her reply to all one star posts withthe same comment over and over and she will do the same with this) Terrible place. Save yourself money and time and just eat ata fast food chain. As a person who travels to Europe annually, this food is not even close to Italian! More like microwavablefrozen food from Walmart! The food here is delicious and for our appetites, perfectly portioned. We liked everything we ordered, the eggplant lasagna and... the shrimp pesto pasta but felt the tiramisu could do much better. Overall it was a lovely dining experience. Read more

My wife and I recently had the opportunity to experience the fantastic fabulousness of their delightfully delicious delicacies.... I had considered the chicken piccata, but I chose the bolognese, instead, which was absolutely DIVINE. Fortunately, though, mywife chose the piccata, so I was still able to taste it and it was also...????. The meats of the dishes are cooked to tenderperfection, as well as the noodles being the perfect softness. There is not a dull, lack of flavor to be found in anything. Ithink next time I may continue to be adventurous and try something new again, perhaps off the pesto section ????...now I wantsome Gustoso, darn it lol. Read more

Everything was delicious, from the tapenade to the bee sting cake. I ordered the chicken piccata for my main course, which was... tender and perfectly seasoned. I usually don't like pasta, but, I ate every bite of the penne because it was seasoned perfectlywith lemon and herbs! It was an enjoyable anniversary meal! We will definitely be coming back. The quality of the food, from the ingredients to the exquisite preparation, made this meal an experience that I wish to repeat.... The layers of flavor were deep and complex. This restaurant is truly a culinary gem in the Spruce Pine food scene. Worth thedrive from Johnson City, Boone, or Asheville. Read more

Love trying new places on date night and this was a success! I had the porc parisien with penne pasta that also came with 4... toasted baguette pieces. I thought the portion was very good and even had some to take home. My husband had the meatballsandwich and while good for $9 it only comes with the sandwich, no sides, which didn't fill my husband up. The staff was veryattentive though bringing us water as we needed it and friendly. The tiramisu was delicious! Served in a stemless type wineglass with your choice of cocoa powder or Cinnamon on top. Update: I attended their soft opening of their dining room! It was a beautiful setting with a warm rustic feel. The food I... tried was excellent. Stuffed mushrooms and Sauerbraten. You can definitely tell that a lot of time and effort were put intothese authentic dishes. The wait staff was very well prepared for an opening night. I'm really looking forward to coming backhere regularly! Very delicious and authentic food! So glad to see a restaurant like this come to Spruce Pine! We ordered takeout because their dining room wasn't quite ready. The Chicken Parmigiano was excellent along with the homemade marinara. We gota very healthy portion of antipasto for an appetizer. The best of all was the German Beesting Cake and Chocolate mousse! Can'twait to eat here again! I chatted with the chef for a long while out on the sidewalk and he was very knowledgeable and kind. Keep in mind this restaurant is on the second floor and the entrance was a bit difficult to find but it adds to the charm andgives it the "hole in the wall" feel. But it is quite spacious upstairs and they even have handicap entrance. Definitely gohere if you're visiting town or if you're a local. I can't wait to go back and try some of the German dishes!
