They were selling a lot of crabs 'to go' the day I went. I sat down and had lunch with a couple IPA's from the fridge selection... and the shrimp were large as you can see, perfectly cooked, super hot, delicate soft meat with almost a snap when you bite intoit. The meal came with 2 sides, no charge for the melted butter, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Kind of tacky chicdecor with an old time country store feel to it and about the size of a normal convenience store. There was a family havingcrabs there and the crabs looked really good, I'll try those next time. I think the prices were something like females around40, males around 50 and the extra large were about $65 which were the largest crabs they had available. Overall very reasonableprices. The shrimp was the star of the show, the coleslaw was fresh and home made but had too much mayo for my taste, so I'lltry something different next time. This place is the real deal, it's what places like Joe's try to be but can't replicate thequality and freshness, and from a cost stand point can't match grade and size of an authentic Mom and Pop seafood place likethis. Peanut's is a small mom and pop style establishment. The staff is super friendly and they made sure we were taken care of. They... have some seating inside, but we took advantage of the good weather and sat outside. The freshly steamed crabs wereoutstanding!! Crabs aren't cheap and when you buy them you want to feel like you get your money's worth. We definitely did! Theycame out steamed perfectly and wonderfully seasoned. They were Louisiana crab and really meaty. Peanut's is about an houroutside of Richmond, but we have already decided we will go back again. Maybe with some friends. It's definitely worth the trip! We've always driven past this place when camping, and decided this time to try it. They did not disappoint! It's a small family... run spot and all the staff were super friendly. We got a dozen "local" crabs because I was hesitant, since I'm a chesapeake baylady....and I was sad I didn't order more. They were hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. We'll definitely be going back!!! Read more

My new favorite place. Love to go to local family run restaurants. Service was great, food fantastic. They have frog legs,... venison and gator! I wasn't as adventurous today and had the shrimp and crab platter. Came with 2 sides, salad and a bakedpotato. Cole slaw is home made and was delicious. My baked potato had vasts amount of butter (which I loved). Plenty of food. Myhusband had the frog legs and he said they were delicious. Onion rings were nice and crispy. We will be going tomorrow to trythe gator and the venison! The menu jas a lot to.offer, oysters, gator, crab, king crab, shrimp, scallops, steak. We areexcited. They also have a small store and sell steamed crabs, oysters, shrimp. This place is a little gem. Dine in or take out.Great restaurant f you want a fresh, well priced friendly local place! Read more

Too bad I can't give it less than 1 star!! The worst seafood I have had in the area hands down. Went to pickup food for my wife... for mother's day we had ordered to pick up at 3 and once there they didn't have my order ready. Stated it would be ready in 10mins I figured ok they are busy being its mothers day weekend but was actually closer to 30 mins. Once I got the food it was allcold!! As far as the food... Crab cakes- do yourself a favor and get some from foodlion up the street as they will surely bebetter! Steamed Shrimp- ha ordered heavy seasoning and was hardly and at all, very plain! Fried shrimp were horrible my kidswould not even eat them! Mac and cheese appeared to be right out the box and may have been the best part of the food, whichisn't saying much! Hush puppies- ok but still seemed to be frozen and heated up to serve. Alligator bites- cold and ok I guessbut not much to compare it to. Baked potato- not thoroughly cooked, hard and the worst ever. I can make better for sure, but Idon't advertise and sell mine!! I spent $140.00 on food there and if I had known the quality would have just went to a fastfood place!! Do yourself a favor and go up the street to Dixie Joe's they have much better seafood and I have never had coldfood from there and order always ready on time!! I am beyond unhappy with Peanut's seafood they have ruined what should havebeen a great meal for mothers day for my family. We will have to start over and try to cook a different meal, they wasted mytime and money and I would highly recommend to any one who thinks about trying Peanut's to just go somewhere else. I have livedin the area my whole life and will be sure to tell everyone I know or meet in the area to not go here, again just go a couplemiles up the street to Dixie Joe's!!! Read more
