Peanut's is a small mom and pop style establishment. The staff is super friendly and they made sure we were taken care of. They... have some seating inside, but we took advantage of the good weather and sat outside. The freshly steamed crabs wereoutstanding!! Crabs aren't cheap and when you buy them you want to feel like you get your money's worth. We definitely did! Theycame out steamed perfectly and wonderfully seasoned. They were Louisiana crab and really meaty. Peanut's is about an houroutside of Richmond, but we have already decided we will go back again. Maybe with some friends. It's definitely worth the trip! We've always driven past this place when camping, and decided this time to try it. They did not disappoint! It's a small family... run spot and all the staff were super friendly. We got a dozen "local" crabs because I was hesitant, since I'm a chesapeake baylady....and I was sad I didn't order more. They were hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. First time eating here and I fell in love with the people there and their crabs were delicious. Clean and pleasant atmosphere.... The wait was not long at all and it was nice to sit down and eat there spur of the moment. The atmosphere was pleasant andeverything was great. Read more

They were selling a lot of crabs 'to go' the day I went. I sat down and had lunch with a couple IPA's from the fridge selection... and the shrimp were large as you can see, perfectly cooked, super hot, delicate soft meat with almost a snap when you bite intoit. The meal came with 2 sides, no charge for the melted butter, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Kind of tacky chicdecor with an old time country store feel to it and about the size of a normal convenience store. There was a family havingcrabs there and the crabs looked really good, I'll try those next time. I think the prices were something like females around40, males around 50 and the extra large were about $65 which were the largest crabs they had available. Overall very reasonableprices. The shrimp was the star of the show, the coleslaw was fresh and home made but had too much mayo for my taste, so I'lltry something different next time. This place is the real deal, it's what places like Joe's try to be but can't replicate thequality and freshness, and from a cost stand point can't match grade and size of an authentic Mom and Pop seafood place likethis.
