Reviews for Umi Kitchen and Sushi Bar in Spokane, WA
Had a lovely night here. The atmosphere was great for a date night and if you want a more intimate setting, their downstairs... (which is where the full bar is located) is the way to go. Service was great, and they constantly made sure we we had water andwere doing okay (and not in a forceful way either). It's to be expected that you pay for what you get, and the sushi was decent(just a little heavy on the sauces). The only photo I took was the "stuffed pumpkin" which features rice in the middle, wrappedwith salmon and topped with crab, avocado,, and little bit of fish eggs. For the level of American syle sushi, this is worth thevisit. Read more
Good sushi and quick service! Really nice setting too, you can sit downstairs where the bar is or upstairs with indoor/outdoor... seating. Shared 3 rolls: rainbow roll, Spokane roll, and the stuffed pumpkin. I judge the quality of a sushi place by theirrainbow roll--I enjoyed theirs a lot! My favorite part is they don't skimp on the crab. There is definitely more crab than rice, and the fish on top was fresh and good too. Their rolls are a little on the small side but definitely not too small and when theinsides are substantial it doesn't matter. The Spokane roll was very tasty and a tad spicy with the jalapenos. I would order itagain, the sauce/fish/flavors were great. The stuffed pumpkin roll is a non traditional roll as it is raw salmon wrapped aroundrice/crab/sauce/etc. It was really good! If you like salmon it's a great choice. I got a gin based cucumber drink too which wasvery good. Overall, solid place. Read more
We were really excited to try this restaurant out! We called ahead and made reservations which I highly recommend. We requested... a more quiet/private spot which they suggested was downstairs. It took us quite a while to find a parking spot and when we didit was about a half a mile down the road as there was an event going on. It would have been nice to have a heads up about thatfrom the person taking our reservation. Once seated, we noticed there really isn't any seat in the house I would consider cozynor private. In fact we were seated directly across from an open door which was quite cold so we asked to move. Luckily therewas just one table open at the moment. Our waiter was pleasant and patiently answered our questions since it was our firstvisit. As to the web page stating dessert, not really, they have a fried banana with a cream cheese topping and that's it. Doexpect to drop about $100 for 2 people easily. They also only have white rice. The food was prepared and presented well, theportions were ample, and drinks were good. We did want to try the dessert at the end of our meal as discussed with our waiterbut apparently they do a "hard kitchen shutdown" at 8:30pm. He didn't tell us that when we were discussing it at the beginningso make note of that. All in all, it was a nice night, could have went smoother but no hard complaints. Read more

Almost no wait at lunch time, server was conversational. Requested seared salmon instead of a baked roll, great success. Good... tasting food in a cool environment for a hot and muggy day. Read more
