Reviews for 1898 Public House in Spokane, WA
We began our meal with the Pizza Muffins which are more like a cinnamon roll than a muffin IMO but they were delicious. Hubby... ordered the Steak Salad & I had the Mediteranean plate. Both were delicious. The facility is really lovely overlooking theiramazing golf course which originally opened in...1898! Read more
I cannot have gluten and was assured that there were options for me upon arrival by staff. Food was good but we ordered... gluten-free and asked for the bread on the side. GF bread came on the side and regular bread contaminated the dish. Also, thecrackers were not rice as mentioned by waiter which would have been important information to know. Disappointed that no effortwas presented to correct the mistake so I just wasn't able to eat it. I still got very ill after dinner so please be cautious ifyou are wheat or gluten-free. Read more
Absolutely incredible drinks! (I had the Old Fashion). The food was fantastic! The food was the BEST!!! Went for a company... dinner. I tried not to be greedy. The steaks were a little expensive so I decided to go with the ribs. Instead of dessert Iopted for the Brussels sprouts cooked with pepper bacon and the asparagus...although I do want to go back and try the tirimisu Ithink it was a great choice! Read more
We were seated promptly, the restaurant is classy, clean, and comfortable, not too noisy. Loved Sarah our waitress. We never... felt rushed. Our appetizer was the cheeseboard with cashews, honey, spiced strawberry jam, 4 types of cheese, grilled italianbread (a couple more slices would have been nice), several crackers, pickled jicama, and grapes. Plenty of food for four peopleto share. I think it was $18 The nice thing about the menu is anyone can find something in the price range they can afford. Iordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. $22. Absolutely delicious and topped with a creamymustard sauce that was a perfect combination. Hubby ordered the Ribs with baby red potatoes and a corn salad. The corn saladwas very spicy, the ribs slightly spicy but everything was very good. $32 For dessert we shared the cheesecake withHuckleberry sauce. It was a very large slice of cheesecake that was creamy and smooth. A little more lemon/sour cream flavorwould have made it perfect. We had a wonderful evening. Read more

What a lovely place to dine! Our server Andrew was fantastic! He had a large party to handle but still made sure we were taken... care of. We ordered the Ahi Poke as a starter and it was tasty. Hubs ordered the chicken Alfredo and I opted for the chickenpiccata- both good dishes. The lemon bar was by far the best dish of the night! Would recommend and would try again! Read more
The service was excellent. The food tasted great. I won't say this was a perfect experience and the food was the best i ever had... but definitely somewhere I will return for a special occasion. The only "issues" i had are small but for this price i have tonitpick. The mash potatoes were just that. Plain mash potatoes, i would expect them to be elevated somehow. The Filet Mignon wasover done. I order blue rare and received a medium to medium rare. It tasted great but again for this price i expect more. Idon't want to sound like we didn't enjoy it. Again great restaurant and great food. I will be back again. Read more
We started with a seasonal special, a nann flatbread with sauted arugula, portobella mushrooms, carmelized onion, and feta... cheese. Overly generous toppings made it a mess to eat. It was really more a bruschetta as the compostion of ingredients wasnever heated together. But the real shortcoming of the dish was that the onions and mushrooms were seemingly grilled alongside aburger, and the meat flavor proved very distracting. For the entree, my daughter chose the chicken cordon bleu with mashedpotatoes and seasonsl veggie (sauted fresh green beans with carrot shreds, actually delish). The sauce for this chicken was acreamy dijon mustard (slightly strong) with a very light panko crust. I chose the aged filet mignon with a gorganzola sauce. The steak was amazing, but the star of the plate was the sauce. The buttery gorgonzola with sweet cream charmed us. We wouldlove to see it paired with either a pasta or chicken course, as a relief from overdone alfredo, not merely recommended withsteaks. The dessert we chose was also a seasonal offereing, a cranberry cheesecake. We can see the allure of the idea, which iswhy we ordered it. The idea, however, did not translate to the table. I could describe the technical failures but suffice it tosay they were all left on the plate. The things they did well were exceptional. The things they did poorly were fairlyinconsequential, and certainly not enough to turn us away from wanting to return to try more of their menu. Read more
