This is the best place for sushi even better than L.A., I travel all over the U.S.A. as a truck driver and have tried several... places. Oishi sushi restaurant been here for 4 years and is always consistently amazing! I got a Volcano roll (on left) deepfried and a Valentine roll (pink and red color) they are so huge! Also I?m adding photo of Oishi paradise (green and redcolor)and Fiji mountain (deep fried second photo in back) and Red Dragon (last photo) Read more

Very clean, very friendly. Was served right away, the sushi chefs are amazing. The rolls was packed tightly, did not break apart... picking up with my chopsticks and very big rolls. Money well spent and would return for multiple visits Read more

Most of the restaurants in my part of Baldwin County are either pan-Asian (and therefore not very good at Japanese food beyond... sushi) or beyond my budget, so finding Oishii has been a pleasant surprise. The sushi prices are a little higher than what I amused to seeing, but it is absolutely worth the extra money because the quality and amount of food you get is quite good. I feellike this is definitely a step up from the ?other food plus sushi? type places I normally see in my area. I?m a big fan ofunagi (eel) and tried both the eel nigiri and the Dancing Eel specialty roll. Both featured tender, buttery, melt-in-your-mouthgrilled eel that tasted very clean and fresh. The Dancing Eel also has tempura shrimp and tobiko (flying fish roe), and thethree items combine to make one savory main dish. My dining friend tried the pork katsu bento, and got a giant meal ? inaddition to a tender fried pork cutlet, there was also sushi, mixed vegetables, two gyoza and two sauces. One sauce wassweetened with honey, the other was more of darker and more savory sauce. Both were surprisingly good. The gyoza was alsoexcellent, with tender pork inside and a crispy but not crunchy exterior. The sweet tea was very good, too. Yes, I know the?right? thing to do is have sake or a Japanese beer with the meal, but I?m just too southern to forgo the tea. Sorry. Ifthere's one thing to complain about, it's the tempura which is a bit greasy. Tempura should be light and crispy but if it'sfried at too low of a temperature the oil soaks into the batter. The vegetables I tried were a bit mushy, too. Overall, it wasa very good experience. Service was just a wee bit slow to check up on things after being seated and then later after beingserved, but was by no means bad. Just relaxed, that?s all. It certainly wouldn?t stop me from returning the next time I findmyself north of I-10. Read more

My husband and went here because of reviews. Now while the sushi specials was filled with an awesome selection. I was... disappointed in prices. It was in my opinion extremely over priced. Plus if I'm pay anywhere from $10 to even $15 for one sushiroll I feel they should turn it into a meal. We ended getting the Volcano California roll with cream cheese and deep fried. Itwas good, but I'm use to paying $8 not $10. I also ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp for $20 I was extremely disappointed. My husband ordered filet and shrimp for $24. First, for price the shrimp was small. My husband ordered filet medium rare it wasover cooked. Portion sizes for hibachi was extremely small compared to other Japanese restaurants we have been too. The friedrice was bland; I actually make better. The miso soup which I normally love I couldn't eat. It's probably the worst I have hadever, and I eaten at a lot of Japanese restaurants all over US. Great service from a very friendly staff. We went with 8 different rolls and they were all super fresh and well made. Allow... yourself some time for the specialty rolls as they are well worth the wait. We got a damn boatload of sushi. Zero regrets. Read more
