Reviews for Southport Gourmet and Sushi Bar in Southport, NC
I was in town for work. I tried this location due to very good (4.5 Stars) Google reviews. I ordered carryout chicken and steak... hibachi. It was ready in 10 minutes. When I got to my hotel, I realized that I did not receive a plastic fork or spoon to eat myfood. The portion size was decent. The food was good, but not $39.23 good! Price was $28.95 + 5% ($1.87)Processing Fee + ServiceCharge $5.39 + $1.00 upcharge for fried rice + tax =$39.23 for a carry out steak and chicken hibachi dinner. I taught myself alesson: to always check for plasticware in a to-go order. ???? Read more

I?m very very pleased with this restaurant! We came from out of town and decided to try this because we were craving sushi! We... were definitely not disappointed. We had the crunchy lobster roll and the vanilla gorilla roll. They were fresh, fast andsooooooooooo good! The price wasn?t bank busting either. I would highly recommend if you?re visiting in Southport. Read more
We were disappointed after reading such good reviews. The mojitos (mango and regular) were both awful. The sushi was tasty but... somewhat warm. The sesame chicken tasted like it was reheated in a microwave. The staff was friendly and service was quick butunfortunately the food was not the best. Read more
This is the cleanest, friendliest and tastiest Chinese Restaurant in the area. Start with the FOH, beautiful and spacious. The... apps, sushi, and meals are perfectly made. The chicken is very tender as is the beef. We eat here more than twice per month asit's superb every time. Read more

This was an excellent choice for a Sunday dinner out. The variety on the menu gave everyone something to choose from including... sushi, Japanese and Chinese options. The service was very prompt and friendly. The quality of the sushi was delicious and veryfresh tasting. Only downside is the noise. If there are any loud or unruly children in the restaurant, everyone is going tohear it. Hard surfaces everywhere from the floors, tables and ceilings mean sound carries. I would definitely return thoughfor more incredible food. Read more
I?m conflicted about this place and here?s why. I visited twice, once for sushi and once for Chinese food since they offer both.... Restaurant was clean and neat, staff was very nice and attentive. I ordered salmon, yellowtail and unagi nigiri and a Californiaroll. These are all staples in a sushi restaurant so it?s always a good test. They should always be able to nail these. Ordercame out quick and the presentation was excellent with good portions of fish. One problem though: the fish was essentiallytasteless. All of it. And the eel sauce had a strange taste, may have been from a bottle. I returned a couple days later, staffagain friendly and attentive. I ordered shrimp with lobster sauce and fried rice because this is a dish many Chine restaurantsstruggle with for some reason. Often the sauce is too thin or too gooey. Not here. They nailed it. The fried rice too. It wasfresh tasting and not dried out. The shrimp were huge and perfectly tender, not overdone. I?ll be back, but not for sushi. Comehere. Order Chinese food. It was a solid 4 stars. Read more
