We stopped in Portland Maine Friendly's today. Our server was D' Karee. He was very friendly and professional. He had a great... attitude too. Seriously great food! We are from Illinois and only moved to Maine last year and we've been struggling to find restaurants we... like here for some reason. Two of our favourite restaurants were Steak n Shake and Freddy's which made thin burgers and meltsand had thin cut fries and shakes and we were sad to see there aren't any around. This place kind of helped us miss it less! Itdoesn't have the really thin cut fries or the meat and cheese patty melt but they have amazing food! The fries are great andfresh and actually contain salt. We were so skeptical because we've had trouble liking places but literally everything we atethere was amazing and we got a lot! The mozzarella sticks were perfect. They were hot, fresh, crispy and the cheese was sostringy and goey and I feel its hard to find good mozzarella sticks! I was wanting that burger and cheese melt I was used to andit wasn't on the menu but they were able to accommodate me and make it anyways which was awesome! My husband had the doritoscool ranch burger and he loved his too. Both cooked perfectly and we can tell the meat is good and fresh and doesn't take likefrozen patties. The burgers were well seasoned as well. He also had onion rings and says the batter was amazing and they werecrispy and perfect. My 3 year old son had mac and cheese with hot dogs. We don't have much to say about this because it wasjust a hot dog, nothing special and it was kraft mac and cheese but he enjoyed his meal. Lastly we had Sundays! They had a qrcode on the table for new people to join their rewards which I did and that got me a free medium Sunday. Since my husbandordered that burger which was a special he got a free small Sunday and I think the kids meal came with a free small Sunday aswell so we all got free ice cream which was really unexpected but great. I walked in to Friendly's an they were busy helping other customers. The drive through guy literally saw a couple of us waiting... an he approached us right away, and asked if we been helped. A classic American cuisine. A throwback to your childhood from the layout to the menu. The staff was amazing. Dessert: When... your restaurant has an entire menu dedicated to dessert, you know it must be an adventure. The dessert menu is nearly biggerthan the main dinner menu. What happened to Friendly's? They used to be good. The food is almost unfit for human consumption. The fries are terrible and... utterly flavorless. They must be using the lowest quality fry on the market. The burgers were bad also. Stick to the icecreamand you will be in good shape. Read more
We went with a group, last sunday, the servers were friendly and the food was decent. Orders were correct and everyone got... their food at the same time. Nothing really blew us away but it was a good place to get some food, and tasty ice cream, lateafternoon on a Sunday. Read more
Ordered via Uber Eats, Uber did a great job on their part of the order/delivery (roughly 30 minutes from order to delivery)... however, Friendly's failed hard on the order & food quality.The buffalo mac&cheese was pretty much just mac with almost nocheese, the chicken was cold and greasy. There was no buffalo sauce at all in the dish. The other item in the order was supposedto be an Apple Harvest salad, a Signature Chicken entree salad was delivered instead. Aside from being the wrong salad, it waspretty much all tortilla strips, a tiny bit of lettuce, and nothing else that was supposed to be on it with the exception ofgrilled chicken. The grilled chicken was over cooked to the point of the outside being hard enough to require a steak knife tocut, the inside completely dry, flavorless, & inedible. Somehow they even managed to make that piece of chicken cold too. Theonly thing the staff managed to do correctly was spell my name on the containers. Friendly's is Friendly's. They have a big menu with a lot of diner stuff, it's a little too greasy, there's all kinds of ice... cream, and kids love it! Hadn't been for several years and stopped in on a whim, because someone said they were hungry for lunchjust as the restaurant came into view. It was nostalgic, but also worth a visit, so we'll go again. Read more
