This is a family sharing style place. I like the clay pot rice with meat, honey walnut shrimp, garlic string bean (not the spicy... one, the spicy one is meh tbh), and beef chow fun. The pork chop is a must try if you haven't yet as well. I'd recommend goingduring their lunch time if you can because the lunch prices are a good amount cheaper! Read more

Lobster on par with Boston lobster. Two of the best in south California. Egg yolks fried crab is an interesting idea but not... quite pulled it off compared to classic styles like ginger and green onions. Regarding the remaining dishes, the Cantonesestyle diced fillet mignon is excellent, and recommended. Something Luna Asia should learn from. Fried oysters good to verygood, oil temperature a little high made the batter a hair too dark. Fried rice is above average, except I prefer it withoutdiced carrots. Steamed fish has exacting temperature control so texture is excellent, if the flavoring of the sauce is better,it would be a home run. Young bean plant is excellent, enough garlic and I can't find fault anywhere. The stuffed chicken skinwas a slight backward step, and was not as good as the bomb pre-covid. The shrimp paste recipe changed both in texture andflavouring, slightly gummy and bland, but on the whole still is good to fair. Recommended for novelty appeal because nobodyelse I know do this dish. Overall firmly recommended. Much better than Luna Asia, and slightly cheaper than Boston lobster. Read more

Oak Tree is a family favorite that we keep on visiting after so many years. The food is consistently delicious! Our favorites... are the deep fried fish, fried calamari, sweet and sour fish filet, broccoli with garlic sauce, sweet and pungent shrimp, andthe crispy combination chow mein. The Yang Chow fried rice and Singapore noodles are also good! My mom likes the clams withgreen onions, while my brother likes the Peking style pork chop. Everything that we've ordered has been wonderful! The serviceis prompt and friendly. They even allow you to bring your own dessert, so we've had a few family birthdays here. You can't gowrong with Oak Tree! Read more

I?ve been coming here for family special events since 1992. This is my go-to spot for authentic Cantonese dishes served... family-style. If you?re only ordering for yourself, then leftovers will be your new favorite meal. Why stick with boring Pandadishes when you could have an entire pan-fried Cantonese style chicken or a whole plate of tofu! My standards are the greenbeans, Chef Special filet, and fried-tofu. Not a bad place for Chinese food. I have passed this many times but never had gone in for food. Today, my friend invited me for... lunch and he happened to be in South Pasadena. When I first went in, I didn?t think they would have authentic Chinese food. ButI was wrong. When the food came out, the taste of the dishes was in par with the foods in Alhambra and Monterey Park next door.I especially like their mandarin pork chop which is a sweet and sour pork chop. On the pork belly with preserved vegetablesdish, the taste was on the light side. The seasoning hadn?t completely penetrated the meats yet. For the scallops and asparagusdish, the flavor was right on. I guess this restaurant passed my taste test for authentic Chinese food. Read more
