Not the greatest - looks better than it tastes. My boyfriend and I were excited to visit Yugen Cuisine during our visit to... South Lake Tahoe after seeing the great online reviews. While our server was friendly and the ambiance was pleasant andenergetic, the food was a big disappointment. The vegetable tempura was tasty but greasier than we?re used to, and with somenon-traditional veggies included like onions and bell peppers. We also ordered 4 rolls: Spicy California, Caterpillar, Ichiban, and Godzilla. As a common theme these rolls had too much rice, which overpowered the other flavors and was unusually mushy butnot starchy. There was excessive sauce on the rolls that had sauce. The pieces of sashimi were small and hard to taste. Some ofthe sashimi was also super flaky? seemed old or very low quality? The imitation crab *did* have a strong flavor - but not aparticularly pleasant one (quite fishy). The wooden boat that the rolls came in looked really cool though. Read more

The food was really delicious. Sushi was different that what we?re used to in Dallas. Server tried to force us in and out as... quickly as possible even though there was very few tables seated. Read more

1. The sushi was not good. It?s not fresh, and has a lot of sauce instead of fresh fish. 2. The vibe is ok. Waitresses are nice... but it was a bit busy at that moment so they couldnt really pay attention to each of customers 3. Price is expensive. It?soverrated. Would not recommend to go for sushi here though Read more

We arrived at 5pm on. Tuesday night and had a 22 minute wait which wasn?t too bad. The service was great. The price point for... the sushi was reasonable $10-$15 per roll. The sake (Typhoon) at $6 was a great price point and they provided a lot of it inwhat looked to be a wine glass. The sushi was good but not the best I?ve tasted. I would go back. Read more

Tonight we thought to have sushi and we came for an early dinner. But this place was so busy that we had to wait for 30 minutes.... At one point we thought to go to the Nepali/Indian restaurant Himalayas next to this and we said nah! We asked to be seatedinside and we were served very well by the staff. We asked for green tea and I really loved their tea pot too. We ordered spicyedamame, spicy tuna, Godzilla, Typhoon, and ceviche. It was quite a bit for four people. It was delicious. I loved Godzilla themost. They are very busy but very quick in their service. If you're here at South Tahoe then I recommend you to visit thisplace. Read more

Already looking promising from the outside. Even better inside and the Sushi outstanding. We love our Sushis and this was hands... down the best we had, for the eye (came in a wodden boat) as well as for the taste. We loved the Tempura plate also Read more

Nice sushi place with a great staff. Although you need to order the right things. Godzilla was good, it was as described and... mildly spicy. The only sushi we enjoyed. Spicy mango from the vegetarian section wasn?t as good as expected. Something in itwas sharply spicy and the outer covering. The outer covering was black rice. Crispy rainbow was one big piece instead of fewsmall piece, which isn?t great when you are sharing the food. This is something we weren?t aware of, so that?s our bad! OverallI enjoyed the service, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming Read more
