I've been a loyal IGD customer for several years now, and while their American Chinese and sushi menus are both good, what... always keeps me coming back is the authentic Sichuanese menu! I only wish I could eat it for every meal, from the tomato and eggstir fry to the fish and tofu in chili sauce, and everything in between. There's a reason food from Sichuan is among the world'sbest cuisines, and Ichiban is where I get my fix! I can't say that I've ever had a bad experience with the staff, as othershave claimed in their reviews, but I personally believe you get back what you put into the world, so I believe in beingrespectful at all times. They've never messed up my order, either, and when some ingredient is out of stock (normally theChinese eggplant, which is difficult to come by in the first place), they always phone me to ask if I can make asubstitution. Threatened with a kitchen knife!!! DD and UE driver here. Had 2 orders one DD and one UE. Waited over 30 min for both orders to... be done. Was waiting over 15 min just for 2 salads on the one. Decided to just deliver what was done and have the customerrefund the missing items. As I was walking out the door one employee was getting physical trying to take BOTH orders. They whereripped from my hands and then threatened with a knife that was inches away from my face. Decided it wasn't worth it andcancelled all orders. Never going back. The presentation of the food is beautiful but every time I order, I checked the bag and part of my order is missing. I called to... inform them of missing items in my first order and they told me that I would get those items with my next order. So, I orderedagain(second time ever ordering) and mentioned that I?d like them to add the missing items from my first order. The guy on thephone said that they don?t replace missing items from previous orders! Sad and pathetic because this place actually hasdelicious food and beautiful presentation. I can?t speak for everything on the menu, but I pick up the Poke Bowls from here regularly using the drive thru and I am always... happy with what is provided. The fish and other ingredients in the poke bowls are always fresh and delicious. They?re a bit onthe pricey side, and not quite as good as the (cheaper) Poke Bowls from Star Ginger at Notre Dame, but still great nonetheless.I?d recommend trying out the bowls at Ichiban at least once and see if you like them. Have eaten here twice since moving to the area recently, and my husband and I absolutely LOVE it!! The prices are not cheap, but... the food is more than worth it. Both times we have gotten sushi for takeout, and it has been absolutely fantastic. The drivethru pick up window is very convenient as well, and they prepared our orders very quickly. The sweet tea is delicious as well.We will definitely be continuing to get our sushi here and maybe try some of the hot cuisine as well! After reading otherreviews on here, we have come to the conclusion that if you are nice to people they will be nice back. I worked as a waitresssomewhere years ago and people do think they can be very rude to the staff and expect you to just have to take it. Don't be optimistic. Don't even think "oh why not, let's give it a go". You will be disappointed. You will receive subpar and... pre-made food at best, with flat, dull, extremely basic flavor. Nothing was made fresh, it seemed like they just got it from ahot tray and fridge. I cannot speak on their sushi, but im sure martins will suffice beyond theirs. Just down the road, too. Asfor the lo mein, fried rice, sesame chicken, and sweet and sour chicken goes, head to the UP mall. They will take care of yourneeds there. Read more
