Edited July 2022: food quality has gone wayyy down this year, likely due to a new chef. They have traded out a lot of fresh... ingredients but jacked up the price. It?s very sad to say that most of their dishes are just no longer worth the cost, the tasteand texture are hit or miss. Surprisingly authentic Chinese food here; I regularly order them every two weeks! So affordable,great quality, and fast service. Can?t go wrong with their soup dumplings? they?re not really soupy but they?re delicious. Youreally need to know what you?re ordering at this restaurant; the best option is just to ask or tell them directly what flavorprofile you?re looking for. Some foods are going to be hit and miss, but I found the more traditionally Chinese food phenomenal.It?s a tiny place so don?t expect anything fancy or flavor-packed. I feel like the people who gave bad reviews have unrealisticexpectations about the restaurant, not to mention Americanized Chinese food obviously almost always pales in comparison withoilier and bolder authentic dishes and they never specified what dishes are the bad ones. These are NOT the crab rangoons you are looking for. Shiny and wet from excess oil on the outside with dense and flavorless... cream cheese on the inside (maybe a speck or two of some other ingredients). Unfortunately, I did not end up eating them eventhough they were the whole reason I placed an order at all. I also ordered the scallion pancakes, which had a good flavor, butwere so drenched in oil that they were floppy and kind of gross to hold. I did end up eating them, but they weren?t great. Favorite soup dumplings (juicy mini buns) I?ve had in the US! So tasty. Their garlic eggplant is 10/10 and their crab rangoon... are truly out of this world. Read more
Not the best Chicken fried rice & beef teriyaki I?ve had but definitely the most expensive. Cost 18$ compared to most places... where I get the same for under 15$ but that would be fine (it?s Somerville after all) if the food was at least good. Ordered through Grubhub; delivery was quick and courteous. The Mala spicy beef is exceptionally flavorful and tender. The onions... and green pepper are expertly cooked, maintaining their crisp texture and bite. If you are feeling adventurous and want toexperience the numbing schezuan peppercorn, I highly recommend it. The spice is warm and numbing but didn?t blow out mypallet. Shanghai Style Pan-Fried Pork Buns were fluffy, tender, and super satisfying. The inside of the bun had a juicy porkmeatball packed with savory flavor. Called to place an order to pick up. (Read reviews of having delivery issues so decided to pick up instead) Had no issues with... that. The food was delicious! 4 stars because the wonton soup had a strong smell which i think was because of the brown leafything/ sea weed or whatever it is, they put in their soup. It didn't effect the taste of the soup thankfully. I also ordered 2boba teas and this is the first time ever enjoying tapiocas because these were soft and easier to digest. Not too sweet either. This is the second time I took the food here. I would gave a straight five star to both the food and service. It?s just located... right at the bus stop. I was intrigued by the hand made soup dumpling showed on the screen while I got off the bus. I ordered asoup dumpling last time and it was just amazing! Different from what I got from the supermarket, they taste just fresh, withrich flavor. This time I tried the pan fried buns and pan fried dumplings. I'm picky on food but they were just perfect. I tried their soup dumplings many months back and those were 4/5. This time I decided to try something else on their menu so I... got the house lo mein and it was garbage. The noodles were pretty bland. The entire lo mein was sitting in a pool of oil. Theyused wayyyy too much onion. Terrible. Read more
