Reviews for Osteria Grappolo in Solvang, CA
If you follow my reviews you will know I tend to rate my restaurants by how much they charge for their food. Basically is it... worth the price? I was passing through Solvang and wanted to find a place to kick back, grab a bottle of wine, nibble on someappetizers, and share an entree?. After reviewing the menu, the choice for the evening was the crab-cakes ($24 for 2), caprese($16 for 5 slices) and Linguine con Vongole Veraci ($24) and a bottle of Merlot ($40) So in my opinion, the crab cakes werenothing special, the caprese (tomatoes) were tasteless, the Linguine was just ?ok.? Worst food I've probably ever had. Flavorless. Server was terrible too. Wine was actually good but doesn't make up for... everything else. The bolognese was 21 on the menu up front and when u sit down it was 22 at the table LOL food comes out quickso it was probably sitting around for hours just losing smell and flavor. To make it better the cocky owner replied "thank you"LOL you should be embarrassed to run such a shitshow. Read more

We had an early dinner at 5pm and it was just us and two other parties. We strolled by after 8 and this place was packed inside... and outside! I got the special that was listed on the chalkboard as you walk in. I got the risotto scallops. Was surprised thatthis dish cost $35 plus tip came out to be $47. Not worth a $50 plate! Risotto was creamy with asparagus, cherry tomatoestopped with cheese and cilantro. I?m used to risotto with no broth but this had broth almost could be porridge or soup. Oh, andfive scallops. Still not worth $35! My friend got the linguine al pesce which is seafood linguine with clams, mussels, shrimp, and salmon in tomato sauce for $25. That was delicious and huge portion. Worth $25. We ate a lot of bread and kept asking forrefills. Three baskets to be exact. They had vinegar and olive oil at the table. Read more
Nice and sleek place to grab some Italian food. To be honest, I was hoping they had more variety. We got the calamari and I got... the penne a la bologna. And it was good. Service was good as well. We sat in the patio, the greeter was nice enough to turn thepatio heaters on. The food is good, don't expect anything out of the ordinary. But give it a try and judge for yourself. Read more
