Had a couple of glasses of Three Daughters Cab and some gourmet popcorn with my wife last night. The cab was excellent, but even... better, Jason McClain sat down for a chat. My wife loves posing questions, being in sales, so Jason was gracious enough to sharehis entrepreneurial story. I left feeling under accomplished, but also inspired. Wife and I exploring Solvang with another couple decided to do a tasting at McClain. My wife used to be in the business and our... friend used to own and manage an Italian restaurant in Newport Beach. At $35 and $40 for a regular Red and Reserve flight, wethought the wines would be excellent, but they were nothing special. The pours seemed light and after the 3rd pour, our friendDom said so to our server, who very curtly stated, "It's a one ounce pour!" She then proceeded to add another few drops to hisglass, then moved on. Really!! We usually buy a few bottles at a tasting, but this treatment soured the rest of ourexperience... and $35 or $40 for the equivalent of one glass of mediocre wine is absurd! Read more
My wife and I stopped in before our dinner reservation and had a great glass of wine and just really enjoyed sitting out front... watching the cars and people go by. A great little spot to do some wine tasting! The front patio looks out onto Mission drive which is great for people watching on... cozy little couches . Pours are nice and the wine was tasty! Great service too. Read more
