Reviews for El Charlatan: Taqueria y Ramen-Ya in Socorro, TX
Great place for.some cozy dining. Make sure you make reservations as they don\'t do walk-ins. Menu is small but very delicious... food. Fast service once seated. Host and manager very friendly and welcoming. Some of the waiting staff needs some TLC but notrude or anything of the sorts. Highly recommended for a small business delight dinner. Read more
First time and oh my gawd the flavors. The Baos are a must. I had Tacos Pastor with some rice on the side. I loved the tortilla... service instead of bread. It’s a very unique restaurant, with the Mexican-Asian infusion. Which is not only in the food, butin the decor of the restaurant as well. Read more
Love it! All of it. The ambience, the food, the staff. The Mexican, Asian fusion is an amazing combination of flavors. We... loved the presentation, the different dishes. Our family could not stop talking about \"The Bourdain \" Ramen bowl, it wasexcellent. The Bao is perfectly made, I tried all three, and my favorite was the pork Bao. Our waiter brought out some ChorizoTostadas as an appetizer to try, they were very good. The fried queso with the corn tortillas was incredible if eaten with alittle of everything they bring you on the plate. So happy to see this in my old neighborhood of Socorro. It\'s about time thatthe local talent be discovered. Congratulations on having such a beautiful restaurant.\nI give this place FIVE YUMMY FACES ???????? ???? ???? ???? Read more
The food was delicious. Love the way the food is presented. My entree was a bit sour but I guess it\'s expected with the pickled... vegetables. A bit expensive for the small amount of food you get but the taste makes up for it. The homemade tortillas are todie for. The waiter in my opinion could have been on top of our drinks since they went empty twice and I had to call him overboth times even though the restaurant had only two other tables with guests on them. Maybe it\'ll be better next time withanother wait staff. Read more
My husband and me were really looking forward to trying out El Charlatan, after finding them in Instagram.\nWe had reservations... for Saturday night, and when we got there our table was ready, the decorations in the restaurant were really nice.\nWe reallyenjoyed the ambience of the place and the new concept of the menu.\nWe were really disappointed with the actual flavor of thefood as it lacked flavor.\nWe ordered the guacamole, pork baos, the Bourdain ramen and the samurai ramen.\nAll of which didn\'thave any distinct flavor, and the ramen being tasteless and the noodles were very hard to chew.\nWe really tried to like thisplace, but we wouldn\'t come back or recommend it for the price being so high. A great restaurant experience! Located in Socorro but just a few minutes from Loop 375. We enjoyed the food, the service and the... ambiance. The Restauarant was full on a late Thursday night. Guacamole was the bomb ???? served with house madechicharrones????????????. Short ribs were delicious! Pastor tacos were good. And The Anthony Bourdain Ramen was a 7 out of 10. Ilove the small terracotta bowls and plates every dish was served on. We loved the fusion. This restaurant is fairly new in ourcommunity but with a little time it will be a seasoned favorite for many. We look forward to frequenting this location. Bestwishes Chef on this new endeavor. I want to start off this review by stating that I usually try to have as little expectations of a place as possible because I... feel like it will sway my rating but from all of the good reviews and good things I had heard about this place I had good hopes.I was met with almost tasteless ramen, a 56 minute wait, and 3 pork belly baos that I thought were incredibly overpriced for theamount and honestly just didn\'t taste that great.\n\nMy girlfriend took me here for a date and we unfortunately didn\'t realizehow popular this place can be and there were literally no reservations available so we had to order to go but luckily they had apartnership with the bar across the street Three Missions Brewery. I thought the inside was small but looked really nice and funfor a restaurant of that size.\n\nWe waited over at the brewery and had a good time but noticed the food was taking a while sowe messaged the place on Instagram which was super responsive which I thought was really awesome. Needless to say, we ended upwaiting almost an entire hour for our food and when it finally came it was all lukewarm ang genuinely lacked flavor in allcategories.\n\nI got the Bourdain Ramen and Pork Belly Bao to share and both left me feeling disappointed and wanting more. Theramen had zero depth of flavor, was lukewarm, and the noodles were stuck together making the process even more difficult. I thentried the pork belly Bao but was met with relatively no flavor at all except for the sauce that came with it but even that wastoo salty.\n\nOverall, I\'m expecting that this was a fluke experience and was hoping it was just an off night. Hopefully thenext time I go back it will have improved or at least met the expectations that I had heard from so many others. Read more
Quaint little place that serves excellent Mexican-Korean infused dishes, complimented with a relaxed atmosphere. The service... was excellent, kudos to our waiter. Food was unique and delicious, but a little on the expensive side. Would visit again, butnot very often. Read more
