This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to when we are in this area. We ordered the sweet potatoe biscuits with ham, a... Rubein, and a cheeseburger. I was disappointed that they didn't have the garlic mayo I had gotten previously. That was amazing.I used that even on the French fries. It was a nice experience. The service was a bit off this time. Stopped in today for lunch with family and we enjoyed ourselves. It was busy, but we were seated quickly. Everyone at our table... ended up ordering a sandwich, and they all tasted great. The only critique I have would be for the Club Sandwich. I would addjust a little more country ham, the amount of country ham on my husband's club was prety light. As far as the sides, thecollards were cooked perfectly, the green beans were delicious, and the fries were good, but a little thick so the centersweren't all the way done on each fry. For the amount of food you get I would say the prices are just a tad high, but I dounderstand today's market, and also paying for quality ingredients. All in all we did have a good lunch, and will absolutely beback to try more offerings from the menu. Read more

Went here three times in as many days! Two dinners and one lunch. First was the pork shank with grits. That was a large meal... and very enjoyable. Next evening was the wings. They had a very nice texture, appearance and taste but they needed to be cookeda little more thoroughly. For my lunch visit I tried the carnitas bowl. It was very good but the bowl wasn't edible! Thatsaved me enough room for dessert thankfully. The banana pudding is great! The chocolate chip cookie replaces the vanilla waferin a great way. Such a charming exterior...who would have guessed the extraordinary experiences waiting inside? The service was spot on,... everyone was delightful and just about anticipated our every need. The menu was filled with amazing things...many familiardishes, many had a really interesting twist. All of our food brought smiles to our faces. I will definitely come back. And as abonus, do yourself a favor and pick up some of the cured ham and other treats in the market. Read more

The Wait was a long time,(1 hour), 3 wonderful glasses of ice cold lemonade, then it dawn on me, Mother's Day weekend:) Prom... weekend, dresses and dates and worried Moms came in . Grandmother's, mom's and daughter's with the tiniest baby's girls came instroller. What a marvelous time. When food came I was pass hungery.. I stopped in today for lunch with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. It's a local hotspot for food so I knew I wouldn't... be disappointed. Everybody had something different in everyone enjoyed their food. Our waitress was Maggie and she was verydelightful, efficient and good with the kids. Kids. This was not my first visit and it won't be my last. I have had breakfast and lunch here a few times. Pork. If that's in your... vocabulary you'll like Taste of Smithfield.
