Great food and service today. We had limited time for lunch in order to make our movie time. I called ahead and inquired if I... could preorder and dine in. They were accommodating. Dishes ordered: Shrimp poboy and Caesar salad with fried oysters. Onlynegative is that I didn't care for their Caesar dressing. They were extra generous with the shrimp portion. Read more

It was okay for what it was your usual seafood fare. The gumbo was the best part of the meal. It had a smoky taste to it and was... absolutely wonderful. The server we had stayed on top of drinks and checking on us. The food was hot and fresh, but the shrimpwas just a bit overcooked. We ate because we were hungry and it was there. I read the reviews and they said it was good so itmay have been an off day that we went. We got the lunch specials and they are worth the price you pay for them. Checked out therestrooms and they are not exactly wheelchair friendly. You could possibly get one in the restroom but you would have to doquite a bit of angling of the chair. I may give it another shot sometime down the road but not unless I haven't tried otheroptions first. Read more

Nice friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, good food and good service. The soft shell crab was ok, the hushpuppies authentic... and the gator sausage po boy was delicious. A lot of very good seafood options on the menu. Read more

Visited this place for the first time looking for some good seafood. Ordered the blackened catfish/shrimp at the recommendation... of my server to my dismay. The blackened catfish was bland and had hardly any blackened seasoning. The side choices were limitedto fried items and salad, so I asked for a side of rice and the hush puppies. Hush puppies were some of the best I?ve ever eatenfor sure. I thought I?d be adventurous and order a pina colada and was disappointed. Stick to the non frozen drinks here or elseyou end up with a drink too watery or too frozen to drink. I did order some cheese fries to go and some wings which weredelicious and crispy. It seems they really have a knack for cooking the fried items, and not so much the grilled ones. By theway, I wish I got my servers name because she was awesome, prompt, and sweet and made the experience enjoyable. Read more

Stopped in here to check it out because of the name. Since we too are ?Vera?s? and we love seafood. Started with the gator... sausage, and onion rings. Both were good, but nothing we would ever need to have more than once. Dinner will have you comingback again and again though. We all ordered something different and then tasted them all. Every item was delicious, a symphonyof flavors in every bite! Servings are generous, none of us were able to eat all our meal, which was sad because we aretraveling so there?s no way to take it home for tomorrow. I was thrilled they had some shirts for us to buy and take home to thehubby since he didn?t make this trip with us. Staff was mostly young girls, friendly but not over the top like some places. It?sa nice laid back place to stop in, relax, eat? hang a dollar on the wall and move on down the road. If you made it this far hitthe thumbs up for me! Read more

Had a delicious lunch at Vera's Seafood on Valentine's Day. Parking is easy to find and getting seated to a table was immediate.... They offered affordable lunch specials in the $10-$12 range as well as their regular menu items. We started out with anappetizer of Spinach and Crab dip. Serving size was large (enough for 3 people easily). It comes with light and fluffy grilledbread. My only complaint is that there is NOT enough bread to eat with the whole dish! We did request more bread and got it muchlater as we were eating our meals. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos! OHMYGOODNESS these shrimp tacos were DIVINE! It was twoFULLY LOADED with shrimp tacos!! They use a spicy sauce on top...I had asked the waitress if it was very spicy and she saidno...well it was extremely spicy for me. I wiped what I could off! They used purple cabbage in with the shrimp tacos instead oflettuce. I would marinate the cabbage so it would offer some flavor and be a little softer. Just my opinion. Even still, thesewere the BEST shrimp tacos I've had in Slidell, Louisiana!! And I can't forget about my drink...I typically order water withlemon, but not today! It's Valentine's Day and hubby is paying so I ordered sweet tea. Vera's has their sweet tea down to ascience! If you want a taste of Southern Hospitality then order their SWEET TEA! Not too much, not too little sugar and enoughice to make sure every drop of tea is nicely chilled. Their tea will make a Southern Man smile and make a Southern lady blush!GOOOOOOOD stuff! I've included some photos...the atmosphere is casual and they offer booths as well as tables. I HIGHLYrecommend Vera's Seafood in Slidell, Louisiana! #verasseafood #veras Read more
