Overall,Roots of Brazil was exceptional! My review is slightly more biased than most because I was the executive chef for a... Brazilian restaurant for years and have a lot of experience cooking Brazilian food. Generally, the food was fantastic and veryapproachable and delicious for those in the Midwest. The service and atmosphere was top-notch and would go back just for thatambience. I ordered the pizza because it had crispy pork belly on it but was disappointed when the crispy pork belly wasessentially pork belly, bacon bits, and a crust left me wanting more flavor. Other than that critique the food was delicious! Wewill be back! Read more

While searching Google Maps for an interesting place to eat for my birthday, Roots of Brasil popped up, which I had never heard... of before. Looking over their menu and pictures, it looked very interesting and unique. It ended up being a toss up betweenthis, and one other place, and I actually opted for the other place. I told my hubby, but at the very last moment, I changed mymind.\n\nGREATEST DECISION EVER.\n\nI was a little nervous when we pulled up because this restaurant is literally just a coupledoors on the side of a warehouse looking building with a sign over it. I wasn\'t sure what kind of place we were walking into, but as soon as we walked in the doors, I was in love. The atmosphere of this place is absolutely amazing, it\'s so neat looking, cozy, and very welcoming. There is a short of kitchen prep area for pizza right there when you enter, and the staff immediatelygreet you. The waitress we had, and I\'m so sad I can\'t remember her name, was one of the nicest waitress I\'ve everencountered. She knew everything about the dishes, made suggestions, and was amazingly friendly. On a side note, the main diningarea is up a flight of stairs, so if you have trouble with stairs be aware of that. However there are a couple tables at floorlevel as well.\n\nThe menu is the perfect size to not be overwhelming, but also gives plenty of options. We had to Google somethings (Feijão?), but the were plenty of things for those who are looking for the more familiar (specialty sandwiches). Weordered the gaucho fries (loaded yucca root fries). Yucca is very similar to potato, and the sauce on these, chipotle aoili, isamazing.\n\nI ordered the Feijão Tropeiro, my husband ordered the Grãos with pork belly, and my son ordered the red snapper. On a side note, the red snapper is the most expensive thing on the menu at $33, but since it was a special occasion, we decidedto go for it. All the food was absolutely amazing, and I truly cannot stress that enough. I will say th Read more

Every restaurant experience starts with the host/hostess and Rebecca was fantastic. The wait was about 30 min, but we waited... because of the service from the start. Got seated in a booth on the second floor of the historic Stockman’s Exchange Bankbuilding. The decor is inexpensive, but meaningful and tastefully done. Just had to take a picture of the neat stairs that werehand-painted by one of the employees.\n\nOur appetizer, Milho Verde Elote-two ears of grilled sweet corn with cilantro, cotijacheese, chili powder, and a delicious aioli- was a wonderful flavor on corn I’d never tasted before, mouth watering.\n\nIchose the Jerk Chicken. It was absolutely amazing! Those chicken thighs had a rub on them with a good kick. I loved the beansand rice with one of my favorite spices, cumin, and the collard greens (never had them before). The South was smarter than theNorth in one regard: they chose collard greens over spinach.\n\nMy hubby ordered Feijão Tropeiro, which is meats, eggs, collardgreens, beans and rice mixed all together. It was great flavor but, he reported, a bit on the dry side.\n\nService from Nikkiwas prompt and friendly. It was a unique, delicious experience. We definitely will be back. Read more
