The atmosphere, the food, everything was amazing. There were 10 people and everyone had an amazing food experience. The server... was also very kind enough to ask about dietary restrictions and allergies. I went there to celebrate my 30th birthday and theyprovided me with a free cake with candle. I couldn?t recommend this place more - definitely will be going back again. Read more

EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE! Walking up to this amazingly charming restaurant with Chef Danny Wells at the helm, we knew we were... in for a treat and it didn?t disappoint. Our server Sarah was incredibly sweet and very efficient. She knew that menu insideand out. We LOVED her recommendation for the lamb tart, seafood chowder and fried green tomatoes to start!!! Then the vegetabledumplings and swordfish were superb! What an incredible addition to the food scene in the DMV. We will definitely be back!!! Read more

I've visited Zinnia several times since its opening and love the beautiful garden and menu. Recently, I decided to host a baby... shower at the restaurant and it was absolutely lovely! I worked closely with the manager who was extremely responsive andaccommodating. We had 15 guests attend the shower and everyone loved the food, service, and atmosphere. Zinnia is a great placeto host an event!!! Read more

Come here to have a good time outside. They have a cute, outdoor seating area. The cocktails are tasty, but the food is kind of... bland. The steak was small and not very flavorful. The ham board was big and good to share with friends. IMO the pecorinocheese was too small for its price ($12.) The server was super nice and helpful. The service was quick. The issue wasn't theserver, but the food. I'd still give Zinnia four stars because of its ambiance. Read more

Having spent 30 years in the restaurant/hospitality business, we had decided to wait a while to visit Zinnia after they opened 6... months ago. And we are not ready as of yet to dine inside the restaurant so we were waiting for a nice weather day to sit inthe patio without the need for a heat lamp. Finally, the day came on Friday, April 8th. Making a reservation online was easybut finding a menu online, forget it! The website does mention that a 20% service fee will be added to all bills! We arrivedand were promptly seated and the menu had a nice selection of appetizers, salads and entrees. A couple of minutes later acarafe of water and two plastic cups and a complimentary bowl of pickled cauliflower, beats and cucumber was served. Then ayoung friendly server, Spencer approached and took our drinks and appetizer order. The Mozzarella bites in marinara sauce ($9)was good but the sauce was lukewarm. The Mojito ($12) was good and the 20 oz Hefeweizen ($8) was cold. The Snack Stravaganza($8) is the best deal on the menu (three types of bread, warm olives, pineapple jam, honey butter and toasted nuts) For ourentree we ordered Tollhouse Steak Frites ($40). A 16 oz NY steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare and sliced on a plate withfrench fries, small salad and what the menu described as aioli but it was more like tartar sauce. Nonetheless, the steak tastedgreat without any sauce. Overall, the patio/garden is a beautiful setting, tables are sufficiently spaced and the service wasfriendly and attentive dog-friendly (on leash at your table in the garden) Spencer, our server did point to the fact that a 20%service fee was added to the bill when he delivered it. Wonderful experience at Zinnia. Lovely ambiance outside and the place was hopping. Since it is new (and much anticipated) they... had a steady flow of guests with reservations and we ended up sitting in the bar inside. We had the Malbec and a grapefruitSangria both were delicious (Sangria a little sweet for me). We ate the beet tartare and zucchini fritters which were absolutelydelicious. In general the prices were reasonable for Silver Spring. Highly recommend this place. They're new, busy, and have alarge outdoor seating so be patient as they figure out the kinks. Still, the customer service was excellent and the food isactually interesting takes on pub food. Would love to see a happy hour during the week to try different drinks and food items. Read more
