The food was great and the service was exceptional, a diamond in the rough. The eggplant parmigiana was great and chicken... franchise better along with the linguine was a good side, then he brought us some Italian ice cream (oh my god) what a finish. My wife couldn?t hang so I had to finish the chianti, damn. Updated 12-5-22 Went back again for OssoBuco, everything wasfantastic. Recommended Read more

The fried mozzarella is literally just two pieces of regular bread with cheese. It?s literally a fried grilled cheese... sandwich. The meatballs have no seasoning or flavor; just a gritty ball of crumbling ground beef. The pasta was overcooked andtasted (but didn?t look) watery. I wouldn?t be shocked to learn they weren?t salting the water. I did like the table bread as itwas at least warm (despite likely being ready bake) and had a nice aroma. It was served with oil that was underwhelming. The redsauce was decent as well. Service was good and received some items on the house (we didn?t mention anything to the server abouthow disappointing the food was so the complimentary items were generous efforts at goodwill) so they are putting the effort in,but the quality just isn?t there with the food. Not to be reductive, but the most enjoyable part of the experience was feelinglike I was on the ?before? segment of a restaurant make-over show when the host tastes and quips about the food. Overall, I?dsay this is on par with a weak roadside diner. There?s much better casual Italian in silver spring. Read more

An old favorite from when we lived in the area for many years. Wonderful that not only has it stayed true to why we always came... (excellent food, great and friendly service, plus a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home), it has improved where it needsto and stayed consistent with what we always loved. White pizza with fontina cheese, red wine, and pasta with garlic & oil;can't go wrong, plus there's always more to discover. Highly recommended. Read more

By far and away, the best Italian restaurant in Montgomery County, although its appearance on the outside is plain. Don't be... fooled: the food is exceptional! Service is friendly and the atmosphere is casual and warm. In ten years eating there, we'venever had a bad meal. We're regular customers and will continue to be so. Read more

The AC was out due to last night's storm, but we decided to dine in anyway. The service was excellent. We received great... recommendations and all ended up happy with our choices. They spoiled us for braving the heat. It was nice. =) The lemonchicken Fresca was perfectly breaded and fried. The pasta carbonara was excellently done with the creamy consistencyachieved. We do recommend Vicino and will come again. Cheers. Read more

I don?t understand how this place is getting good reviews. I just ordered the shrimp marinara with fettuccine and it was... inedible. Just terrible. First, you can tell that the sauce isn't home made. It tastes like tomato sauce from a can that waswarmed up and poured on top of the way overcooked pasta they sent me. It had no flavor whatsoever. Not even salt. This can?t bean authentic Italian restaurant. Never again. Read more

I enjoyed this place very much. We were looking for a neighborhood sort of Italian restaurant and this fit the bill perfectly.... Not fancy, but nice. Service was excellent, chianti was bright, antipasto tray delicious. We did fried calamari as well. It waslightly breaded and nicely fried, not too heavy on the breading or too crisp on the fry, which happens often. I did linguinewith clams in white sauce and it was delicious, great depth of flavor, seasoned very well and excellent pasta. Very pleased tofind this spot not too far from home and will definitely return to try more of the menu. Read more

I enjoyed a wonderful dinner outside for Labor Day with a friend and thoroughly recommend Vicino Restaurante. At first I wasn't... sure... but then... This is the kind of place where you really fill up on good Italian food and bring home some leftovers...and you order a nice bottle of wine and have coffee or cappuccino and tartufo or spumoni or tiramisu for dessert and you don'tthen end up walking out the door with empty pockets because you spent so much money to get satiated... You get more than whatyou pay for here... or at least it sure feels like it with their generous portions... They could probably pipe in some Italianmusic outside to up the ambiance out there to quell some of the road noise... It is in the middle of downtown Silver Springafter all. Of course... We could have eaten inside... but the outside was nice as the weather was nice... The place was not tooclassy or flashy but we did have white tablecloths and red cloth napkins and the service was casual and very good. I will returnagain for filling and delicious Italian food. Tasty Italian meal that doesn't empty your wallet. Read more
