We ordered the green tea leaf salad, shrimp coconut curry, noodles with pork, and the Sunday chicken special - first time... trying Burmese food so we went with their recommendations and loved everything. Service is exceptional and quick. Also theythrew in a free dessert. Plus there is on-site parking. Read more

By far one of my favorite restaurants. I am over the moon that they?ve managed to reopen. Apparently, the family lost everything... during COVID, but they?re trying again. Albeit only open for carry out right now while they save money to buy back tables andchairs and kitchen items. They had to sell everything. Thank goodness they?re back! I just had my favorite trio - pickled mangopork, curry chick peas with scallions and coconuts chicken curry. It was even better than I remembered. Read more

My favorite neighborhood spot in Silver Spring! Amazing food and large portions for a reasonable price. Huge menu but you can?t... go wrong with the curry or noodles with Burmese dressing. Dishes are extremely spicy so keep that in mind when choosingmild/medium/hot. Support this local business! Read more

We've been going to Mandalay for many years and always enjoy the food. Beware, they are generous with the spice. Medium packs... quite the kick for me, but others in our party opted for mild. Sadly, dining in is not currently an option. I do hope theybring back the tables and chairs soon (& reopen the bar as the drinks were fantastic!). For those wondering, our vegan friendalso loves this place! Read more

Myself, wife Sandy and our dear neighbor, Celeste, went to the reopening celebration. It's been a couple of years since they... were open in Silver Spring and were we happy. The food was incredible, tried a couple of new dishes and they were amazing. TheMandalay family was wonderful and we so much missed them. Read more

SO GOOD. My mom grew up in Burma and we visited here while we were in town - can confirm that it is authentic and delicious... Burmese food. If it?s your first time and you?re unfamiliar with the menu, don?t let that stop you - I?d recommend trying theirOhnNo KaukSwe, NanJee Thoke, and Nyat KaukSwe Gyaw (all featured in the photos). I just wish this place existed in Chicago!Thank you to the lovely family who owns this place for showing us so much hospitality! :) ???????? ps. right now it?s onlytakeout! Read more

I'm so happy that this place is back. The food is excellent. Especially love the vegetarian options. Only tiny qualm is with... the pricing. It's take out only, yet there's a mandatory "take out charge" with each order anyway. Then there's an additional"credit card charge" as well. If you order directly by calling, you pay higher prices than through a third party app online. Always better to have upfront pricing and I don't think being dishonest is Mandalay's intention. I love Burmese food and it is so hard to find in this area. But Mandalay is delicious and a great long time establishment. I've... been coming here for over a decade and it's still a favorite spot! Some of my favorites... KaYann Thee Hin - Eggplant simmeredin onion base curry with cilantro ThinnBawThee Thoke - Shredded papaya, cabbage, and onion, tossed with Burmese dressing, garnished with fried onion and carrots. Let Phet Thoke - Fermented tea leaf, tomato, and cabbage tossed with Burmese dressing, garnished with fried garlic and crispy yellow peas. (STILL MY FAVORITE!) Baya Gyaw Thoke (Gram Fritter Salad) - Gram fritter, tomato, cabbage, onion, and fresh cilantro tossed with Burmese dressing, garnished with fried onion and carrots. Tofu Ohnno Hin- Lightly fried tofu cooked with coconut cream curry. I always add the onion, green pepper and tomato. (Additional $1 - which isa tad silly if you ask me.) I've tried this curry with chicken before too, the sauce is the real winner! Burmese Samosa -Potato, onion, and green peas in spring roll wrapper and deep fried triangles. Sticky Rice Dessert - Sticky rice with brownsugar and coconut. Their steamed Jasmine rice is so good. They use a good quality of rice and it's a perfect chewy texture.IT'S LIKE CRACK! This is a great spot for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters. So many great options for everyone. Prices arestandard. Service is excellent. There is parking on the street and in public lots. Read more
