Reviews for Wood & Water in Sherman Oaks, CA
A great find in the valley. Exceptional food, great laid back food and excellent service. The miso black cod and the squid ink... pasta with lobster were spectacular. Wine prices are reasonable. Very happy to find this place and will return Read more
Was invited for a dinner party at wood and water today. Unfortunately the experience was less than perfect. Bear salad was... tasteless - veggies were fresh just no seasoning, other appetizers were all overly spicy - folks at the party talked about thefact that jalapeños were in everything ( one guest requested no jalapeño in the drink it was still out in). Asked for saltshaker - got a non- workout one. Ordered eye of the ribeye - cooked medium, got an over cooked piece of meat. I always ordermy steaks medium so I know what it is supposed to be like - waitress tried to tell me it was cooked right so did the managerafter her. Saying “oh you needed medium rare” - no I did not, I needed exactly medium. Thanks! They cooked another stake. The consistency of cooking on that one was good - but it was tasteless. The sides did taste great - lobster ravioli with steakwere good and mashed potatoes my husband had were tasty. Waitress was accommodating (despite her manager perhaps). I will not bereturning. My fiancé and I looooooved this place! We've been wanting to try more places close to home and this was a serious gem. I'm a... real foodie and even among the fine dining I've done, this was near the top. Service was friendly and fantastic. My duck wasabsolutely perfectly cooked and the flavor balance was just right. Cocktails were also next level! Read more
Our server, Phil, was phenomenal. The timing of everything was perfection. From the drinks to dessert, everything was SO good.... The yellowtail watermelon sashimi was such a good pairing. We had the refreshing Mexi Flowering Squad cocktail, the friedchicken plate was the best I've ever had, and the fried rosemary sprig peering out of the mashed potatoes was to die for. Thecrust of the key lime pie was unlike any other crust I've had. It wasn't your typical graham cracker crust. It was a nutty, crumbly, not too sweet crust of perfection that made it a dessert of its own. Wow! When I made the reservation, there was adisclaimer that there was a 1.5 hour time limit for parties of 2, however after 2 hours of enjoying ourselves, we never feltpressured or rushed which I really appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful dinner experience! I got to catch up with my bestieover the best dinner and drinks I've had in a long while. Looking forward to dining here again. Read more
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in LA. To start we had the oysters and the squid ink calamari. It was perfectly... crispy and had great flavor. We also had the eye of the ribeye with lobster ravioli. The steak was truly a medium rare exactlyas ordered. The charred crust on a top was delicious with a pepper leaning flavor that pared perfectly with the creamy pinksauce. We also had the lobster mac & cheese which was so tasty. Very lobster forward so order up seafood lovers. Read more
