This was my first visit and it was such a great experience! If I didn't go in knowing the food was vegan I could have completely... been fooled. The food is so flavorful and it's also very visually appealing. My absolute favorite was the "pollo" taco made ofsoy bean and the "carnita" nachos made with jackfruit. Good place and a great menu of meat alternate products. Sure this is vegetarian but based on mock meat options. The food is... good and I would definitely recommend the nachos. I tried ordering via QR code on the table that takes you through an onlineordering process. The order seemed to have got lost for a while since many others who placed orders in person received theirfood before we did ours. Ooh and I must mention that they carry some fun beverages as well. Delicious vegan restaurant! The Loaded fries are a must! Delicious with any protein. Tried all of the protein Tacos, my favorite... were the steak and chicken. The fish Tacos were pretty good as well. The burritos and quesadillas are pretty filling and good.Their cocktails and margaritas are really well made! Would definitely recommend to try one. They have one of the best lemonade Ihave tried, definitely take some to go! Price isn't too bad for a vegan place. Will definitely come here again. Read more
Great for the entire family! One of the few places that has vegan kids meals! Our kids ordered The quesadilla and the bean and... cheese burrito. We also got the guacamole for them. The kids loved the food. We ordered the half order of nachos with thejackfruit carnitas and they were a hit too. They weren't too spicy for our kids which was great. My husband and I ordered thethree taco plate and the burrito. We tried all three vegan meat options for the tacos and my favorite was the pollo. Myhusband's favorite was the carne asada. But we liked the carnitas on the nachos too. We also ordered the agua fresca hibiscusflavor. That was a hit all the way around. Not too sweet. And we finished our visit with the churro donuts which wereamazing! They have a small play area for the kids which is nice. And the restrooms are artfully painted and clean. We loved howcolorful the decor was and appreciated that there was so much seating for our large family of five. We visited for the firsttime on Mother's Day. We arrived a little bit before they opened at 12:00. And it was hard to find parking. Metered parking onthe street was full. I read in another review that you could park behind the restaurant but we didn't see anything. So we wentto the neighborhood across Ventura boulevard and found some parking on Noble Ave. There is also a public parking that is paidthat I have a picture for as well. We will definitely be back! Easily the best vegan Mexican place we've ever been to. First off, everything is vegan - which means LOTS of delicious options.... They use soybean, jackfruit and other things to give the consistency of meat without ever harming an animal life. Second, thedecor. My god! What an amazing interior designer. Everything is open concept, with vibrant colors, plenty of space. It justmakes you feel alive and part of our amazing earth. If you want to get a taste of everything, try this order -- 1 of the 3-tacoplate (each with a different fake-"meat", and 1 of the half-quesadilla with another fake-"meat" of your choice. Promise youwon't be disappointed. The lemonade though was meh.. but we got to keep the glass bottle, which was cool. Overall just anamazing experience. Can't wait to go back. First time here. This place is Vegan and heaven for me! We tried the Carne Asada Loaded Fries (you can pick from Pollo-Soy Bean,... Carnitas-jack fruit or Carne Asada-Seitan) Loaded fries are excellent! So meaty flavored and I added guacamole, whynot? Definitely a Mexican Vibe and I would really enjoy sitting outside enjoying a margarita or sangria. TIP: Parking in backbehind building or metered street parking. Sugar Taco is art work inside and out. They have really taken some time to make a visual eating experience. Right from the... entrance to the outside patio. Look at the layout of the fresh flavored water and the numbers for the table. Look at theattention that they have put into creating an atmosphere of art. The walls, chairs, patio, staff and delicious vegan tacos arewhat makes Sugar Taco. Extra points for a kid?s area with plenty of toys to go with it. Nice touch! Attention to detail iskey. Look at the bathroom. Art work on the wall. It was even signed by the artist that made it. Attention to detail! Gabyand Jordan helped me out picking some of the sides and water. Compliments on them. They were welcoming and friendly. I had athree-chicken taco plate with black bean and rice. Accompanied with Agua de Jamaica that is translated to Hibiscus water. Tofinish I had a churro donut. This if my first experience trying vegan chicken tacos. They are great! I could not tell thedifference. They had queso and guacamole on them. They tortilla was flavorful and perfectly cooked. It was done well enough tohave for and solid outside and soft inside. This is a very difficult balance to have with tortillas for tacos. The veganchicken was really good. I don?t know how they did it but they did. Great tasting vegan chicken tacos. The Agua de Jamaica orhibiscus water was spot on. Not too sweet and not to tart. Right in the middle and full of flavor. Look at the setup forpresentation of the water. It is like an art installation. Perfect Agua de Jamaica! The churro donut was a new experience forme. This is the metaphor for Sugar Taco. Take a traditional dish and make it their own with an artistic flare. Yes, a churrodonut. Not too sweet and full of churro flavor. I really liked this place. There is no other vegan Mexican restaurant that compares to how amazing the food here was! I've been telling everyone I talk to... about it and figured leaving a review can help you make the decision to try it too! Here is what I would order again!EVERYTHING!!! Every single choice of protein had so much flavor, but if I had to choose only 1 the fish tacos (tofu) plus ordera side of the elote (street corn) and put some of it in the taco (chef's kiss) it was perfect!
