Reviews for Beyond the Gate Restaurant in Shelburne, ON
Love restaurants like this! Great ambience, a short menu, and friendly staff. I gave four stars because the food was ok, but not... so good to be priced so high. Our humble opinion, though. Read more
Definitely call ahead to book a reservation as there are not many tables and it seems to be a very popular place to eat. We... live out of town and have been trying to get here for many years as we remember chef Frederick from his days at the Orangevillefarmers market. We finally were able to make a reservation on a night where we were in town and VERY GLAD we did. We ordered aFrench onion soup, house made hummus, a savoury crepe and a fish of the day. Everything was fantastic. Chef Freddie's ability touse flavour in ways that are in perfect proportion without being overpowering is very impressive. The meal was delicious. Wewould highly recommend Beyond the Gate to anyone looking for a nice meal in served in a small intimate setting. Read more
Delicious, sophisticated food in a comfortable and intimate setting. Arrived at the end of lunch and were treated to a... completely unrushed and luxurious experience. Real French food, locally sourced ingredients, and a chef who accommodated a roadweary group from 8-70something while delivering a lovely meal. A must do en route to Grey County, worth the drive from Toronto.Really something special. Read more

A hidden gem in Shelburne, that?s for damn sure. It was a little tough finding the restaurant at first but once you go through... the hall way?the smell of greatness peaks through. The chefs wife greeted us with a darling smile and great attitude, welleducated on the menu as well. I ordered a cappuccino and a regular brewed coffee?both tasty and smooth. The duck fat fries arehand cut and tastes divine, it almost has a truffle finish to it. The chef is very flexible and you can tell by the open conceptkitchen that he loves what he does and with ease. It was a pleasure coming here and we will be back for more. Read more
We stopped by for brunch on our way to blue mountain, and we had egg Benedict with salmon and beef hash. Fairly speaking I would... give 4.5 if possible; although the dishes did not wow me and the portions were smaller compared to similar dishes at otherrestaurants, both were nicely done with good quality of oil and materials. It is a small restaurant so you may want to makereservations ahead of time. Read more
