Great little restaurant. Very homey, and comfortable. Service was great. Our waitress was attentive but not hovering. We both... got chicken platters. He got the 2 breast and 2 sides; pinto beans, and mash potatoes w/sawmill gravy. I got the 2 thighs anda drumstick with chicken and dumplings and german slaw as my two sides. The chicken was great,crispy skin,and tender,juicymeat. The pinto beans were smoky and flavorful. Mash potatoes were good, the gravy was great. The chicken and dumplings weregood, very much a comfort food. The German slaw won the side dish! Total surprise andvery, very, good. The slaw is just cabbage,onion,and some bacon.....and a fantastic non-mayo dressing. We will definitely be eating here again. ???? ???? Read more
excellent! down home country feel, good home style cooked food, worth the drive. Chicken n dumplings as good as memaws, maybe... better. every food item i ordered and ate was excellent. food took a while to get, place was nice, clean with a pleasantatmosphere. Read more
The atmosphere is nice and clean, the food is wonderful. I enjoyed the decor. The place was definitely busy and they were... keeping up with the demand on a weeknight. We drove an hour to eat here and we will for sure be back. Read more
I thought food was very good. Definately home cooking to the point of comfort food. Wife thought it was just okay and she felt... the chwese curds were toi spicy. I thought they were wx elkent along with the fried mushrooms. Country fried steak was reallygood and flavorful. Can't wait to go back and try the meatloaf. Read more
The Chicken House was highly recommended to me for months now and I forgot the name of the Restaurant until it was brought up in... conversation again today. So, I didn't hesitate to order my food today. My food was hot and delicious ???? The chicken andcarrots were tender and flavorful. The baked potato ???? was cooked just right. Friday night and they were very busy, but they quickly told us they would get a table cleaned off for us and they did. Our... server was quickly at our table for our drinks and even asked us about an appetizer. We were served our fried mushrooms timelyand let me say they were the best we have had!! The server told us the kitchen was a bit backed up which we totally understoodand it sure helped since we were enjoying the mushrooms. We both ordered the fried chicken with 2 sides each. Let me say thefried chicken is divine. The baked beans are soooo good with a yummy brown sugar base. Mashed potatoes and green beans all good.The price is reasonable thus the crowded dining room. Great fried chicken. I purchased the all wing platter that consisted of five WHOLE wings (yes WHOLE wings) two sides and a roll.... The fries and the pinto beans were both tasty. Came during lunch time the parking lot was packed but there was plenty ofseating inside. My food came out within 10 minutes of being ordered. Read more
