Schooner's BBQ Shack in south Sebring is a great American bbq joint you will find on the side of the road serving hot and ready... food. They are open the majority of days but I am not sure the exact hours. I know they open up around 10:30am and once theysell out they close shop at whatever time that is!! Could be earlier could be later And Don't let this food truck fool you.This restaurant is serving flavor filled American classics for take out that will definitely please even the most refinedpalate. . I had the pleasure to stop by and enjoy two of their offerings one afternoon a few days ago!! It was around 12pm andthere were a few cars in the parking lot. The menu was straight forward and easy to understand. Keeping it simple is alwaysappreciated. Out if the few items on the menu I chose the One that was a big smoked beef sandwich if I'm not mistaken. Haha, Idon't recall it being pork but it could have been. Lol I know it was a special they had on the menu, it was a big hefty sandwichand honestly it was delicious. It also came with a peach bbq sauce that was pretty tasty. It was a first time for me and thepeach bbq sauce. For my sides I got a few of their options. By far my favorite was the stewed okra. I am happy i ordered anextra serving of the okra because it was fantastic. I know okra isn't everyone's cup of tea but I enjoy it especially whencooked right, which this was. The Cole slaw was good, I personally like a more vinegary Cole slaw sauce but this one was good. Ialso ordered a jerk chicken meal that was smoked to perfection. The jerk sauce needed a little work to really make an authenticjerk flavor but it was ok. I also got some Mac n cheese which was good. I'm not too into Mac and cheese any more but this wasgood for those that like it. The red beans were good aswell. But by far the okra was the one. Fantastic home cooked barbeque with tasty sides! Haven't tried anything that DIDN'T taste good. The pulled pork is a favorite... classic, served with or without the bun. We like it with the Sweet BBQ Sauce. The jerk chicken is juicy and flavorful and pairsnicely with their light cole slaw. The ribs fall off the bone!! The homemade mac 'n' cheese is made with shell pasta like itshould be and has just the right amount of cheesy goodness. The downside to Schooner's is their limited hours, but I wouldrather deal with limited hours with the food cooked by the master himself than end up with meals that don't have the same touch.Schooner's BBQ is closed Sun, Mon & Tues and only open for lunchtime Wed - Sat starting at 11 AM until they run out of food(usually by 2:00 PM), so plan accordingly.
