Reviews for The Dish Cafe in Seattle, WA
Good food, but the service is pretty slow. 10 minutes to have our order taken, and roughly 15 minutes waiting for boxes and to... close out our check. Granted, they were busy, so I'll give them a concession on the wait times. I'd try them again outside ofpeak hours. Read more
Best biscuits I?ve ever had! They slice them, toast them and add just the right amount of butter. Oh Yah! Sheltered outdoor... seating (~5 tables) available. Read more
I?ve enjoyed The Dish for 20 years. My first visit is still clear as day. I lived a block up the street and wandered down to the... little diner one morning not expecting much. Instead I was greeted with heaping portions and friendly staff. When I produced acredit card they explained they were cash only (at the time) but instead told me not to worry and to pay them ?next time.? Overthe years there have been changes, some good, some not so good, but overall the quality remained consistently high, until myvisit this morning. I ordered the Chicken Fried steak, two over-hard eggs, elected a $4 up charge for fruit, a side EnglishMuffin, and a large (12 oz) glass of orange juice. When the order came I was immediately surprised by the fruit portion, whichwas merely a cup. While generous portions of sausage gravy covered the steak, the steak itself was flat, overcooked, small, andappeared as though it was a box item. The English muffin was only buttered on one side and when I asked for additional butterthe friendly waiter gave me a margarine pat. When I explained that it wasn?t butter the owner/manager brusquely asked forEnglish muffin plate, took it into the open and visible kitchen and lathered on margarine from a one gallon Kroger tub thatclearly said buttery spread margarine. The cost, $28.00. The waiter did ask if I was satisfied to which I explained theshortcomings, but also seemed dismissive to some of these concerns citing rising costs. He did say he would tell management. That was as far as it went. I am hopeful that my next visit is better as there are many restaurants in the area offering betterfood and better portions at lower costs. Read more

Good place for brunch! Place was pretty busy so it took a while to get seated and for the food to arrive. Omlettes, potatoes,... and toast were super filling and much needed after we ran the cherry blossom 5K. Eggs Benedict were pretty good as well. Read more

Always have my eye out for little golden nuggets when I'm treating myself to a weekend breakfast out- like The Dish Cafe on... Leary Way! Nearly passed it up on my way into Ballard from West Seattle. It was definitely worth backing up and easily findinga parking space nearby. It was 9am on Saturday and my hubby and I walked right in and was immediately seated. I ordered "MyFavorite" - yes, that's the name of my breakfast! And it will be from now on! Great service, great food, great prices. Mydefinition of a "golden nugget!" Read more
