Reviews for Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar in Seattle, WA
It is Friday night and at 8:30PM, this place is packed with couples enjoying oysters. Closing your eyes, you'd hear the... conversation ebb and flow... The couples are actually on their first dates! The restaurant is a popularfirst-date-after-meeting-on-a-dating-app place, you gather. Well, on this particular night, I dined alone and ate the $125sampler served over a huge ice tray. I was sitting outside, feeling lucky to have been served 30 minutes before closing, slightly freezing in the crisp fall weather, with a huge platter taking up 95% of the table. The remaining 5% was for my waterbottle, sparkling wine bottle, and their respective glasses. And let's not forget the bucket for discarded exoskeletons. I hadno regrets as I devoured the tray. An hour of straight eating and drinking, alone, contemplating on how good this rich fatgarlic aioli is (how redundant is this sauce's name, really) paired with the crab and prawns. The oysters were so fresh, one cantaste the ocean. I did not care that my hands were cold, that I was sitting on a sidewalk at night, that I was freaking alone ina date place. The seafood was awesome, and that is what matters. Read more
Out of towner review: Excellent spot for oysters and small bites, especially if you?re not looking for anything fancy or formal.... Staff is very friendly (note they add a 18.9% service fee onto your bill, which doesn?t include tip). Prices are fair. Here?swhat we ordered: - Dozen oysters sampler (excellent option to try a variety of small and larger oysters) - Chowder (verydelicious, probably one of the best and more unique chowders I?ve see; bread is $2 extra) - Pickled veggies (nothing tooexciting but a nice addition to have on the side with your main dishes) We had to wait 15 minutes towards the end of the eveningon a Friday, so plan arrival accordingly as this is a small and what seemed rather popular establishment. Overall, we thoroughlyenjoyed our meal and visit. Definitely looking forward to coming back again to Taylor Shellfish. Enjoy! Read more
Wow! The oysters were amazing! My first time in Seattle having fresh PNW oysters! I?m in love! Service was great! So good I... forgot to take pictures before we ate everything! It is a small spot so there seemed to be a bit of a wait sometimes. Read more
First impression, the waiters were low key condescending. Like we didn't know where to sign in/didn't see it so we just stood... there as they were chatting and then realized we were standing there and were legit low key condescending about it. Sorry?Didn't see the sign in thing, no need to be condescending. Secondly, the happy hour... Isn't really a happy hour honestly?Usually oyster happy hour even good ones can be as less a $1 up till maybe $2 hence happy hour. But these ones were more than $2an oyster and it's only one kind of oyster they're giving that day, not all kinds of oysters. The oysters that day did not agreewith me though. I actually went home with the taste of the bitter fishy oyster in my throat and threw up a little because itwas a weird bitter/fishy taste. And I LOVE fishy anything. We got happy hour oysters, which I spoke above, we got the geoducksashimi, it's alright, fishy at some points okay at some points but def must try if you haven't had just to get it out of theway, and the grilled oysters (so this wasn't great, we've had new Orleans grilled oysters and those were awesome this one had abitter note to it.) Anyways 3 stars for all the above on food and because once we were seated the waiters were fine and notcondescending as much as before, and the oysters itself were fresh eventhough the oysters didn't agree with me. I really wantedto get more oysters but just couldn't do it. Maybe the other non happy hour oysters were better. Read more
Tasted one of the best and freshest oysters. They have so many varieties of oysters. They serve Dungeness Crabs as well. Decent... selections of wines. A little cool hangout place to chill and have some wine. Read more
Came here since this to be the only place that sells geoduck. We wanted to try it and see what it was like, let's say, its... really not for everyone. The geoduck has a sweet taste to it, and having like a scallop texture. For me, it has like a flavorof a jackfruit/durian, which is kind of weird. We had the following: Smoked Oyster Dip - the dip was delicious, but I feltlike it was too salty since you are using chips to dip with NW Chowder - Geoduck, Yukon Gold Potatoes, Fennel Cream - can'ttell theres geoduck in there, delicious though Geoduck Sashimi Soy/Wasabi Geoduck Sashimi Lemon Turmeric oil, Ikura Thegeoduck sashimi wasn't bad, the white meat of it was definitely better than the dark. And definitely enjoyed the lemon turmericoil with ikura better than the soy/wasabi. Definitely gotta come so you can try geoduck, you never know if you like it untilyou try. Read more
Where has this place been all my life??? Farm to table, amazing service, and even better food ???? the freshness of the seafood... is unbeatable. Sauce wasn?t even needed because you could really appreciate the flavor of each item. Highly recommend theDungeness crab with an order of the baguette. My friends and I were so focused on peeling the crab that we had no conversations????. It. Was. Amazing. What a great sampling of pacific west seafood! Read more
Fresh seafood, high quality ingredients. Chowder was awesome with zesty kick. Baked Oysters were flavor bombs! Oysters were... fresh, no fishness, but flavorful. Mac and Cheese was crabby, but bit too greasy. dine in experience required 18.90% gratuityno matter what. servers are friendly and the open kitchen is cool. I would give a 3.5 for this place but that isn?t an option. Read more
