Reviews for Tanuki Izakaya in Seattle, WA
I seek out restaurants for quality sashimi and this place absolutely rips you off for what they give. The tako was slightly... unusual, but not expertly prepared. Portions were TINY and the waitress assured there would be two pieces per item. I would nothave had the expectation if she hadn’t sold it this way. Rice was anything but moist or soft.\n\nThe worst feeling is walkingaway from a splurge you had been excited for, and regretting not having gone somewhere else instead. Read more

Hidden gem in U-District. Exceptional sushi and Japanese food. Chef worked at a Michelin star restaurant before this and it... shows. Fish is immaculately fresh and the blend of textures and flavors is innovative and delicious. Among my favorite sushirestaurants in Seattle now. Read more
This is the best Sushi place in my mind! The delivery of the restaurant has made us a lot of wonderful memories during the... pandemic when all other sushi places were closed. I love the Sweet Shrimp most and the Kani Salad is so surprising! Thecucumber’s fresh meets with the crab meat’s sweet, which made me feel like in Hawaii. Next time, I must go for the dining tofeel the atmosphere and I am confident it will be a great experience. Read more
The BEST quality and reasonable price sashimi in Seattle. Guys, you definitely gotta try their 9 spots Jewel box, it would not... disappoint you. There are 9 different kinds sashimi in the box, every piece is FRESH, it doesn’t have the smell usuallyassociated with fish. Secondly, the Chawanmushi you gotta try it out as well. There are chef-made truffle sauce, salmon roe anduni on the top, the steam egg is super tender and smooth, there are two little shrimp at the bottom, very tasty and the textureis full of layers. Order a bottle sake pairing with these food will be wrap up the dinner. 100/100 ???????????????????? Read more
OMG! This Japanese cuisine restaurant is fantastic! I heard about this fancy restaurant when I was in New York, because Chef... Dylan was the former line chef of New York’s top Michelin restaurants ‘Masa’ and ‘Brushstroke & Ichimura.’Additionally, he is also the founder and executive chef of ‘Minamoto.’ You really should try it if you are in U-District anda sushi/omakase/Yakitori lover. TBH, I never thought I could have such high quality Japanese cuisine and service in U-Districtthat can compare with those top restaurants in NYC. Love it! Will def. visit there again! Read more

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews about the front store waiter. When I dine in, Nothing was wrong with the server... services. I get my water refill and even a quick presentation about each beautiful entrée courses.\nI went on a Saturday night10pm, it was busy and lucky we took the last available table. Every dishes was prepare thoughtfully and well executed. Mostimportantly, I Like to address about the prices. It’s slightly in the higher end if you were to compare all the restaurants inthe University way. However, you truly get the top quality seafood of what you paid for. Reviewers complaining about the pricepoint aren’t understanding how restaurants have to go thur to prepare fresh ingredients at the same time beating the horribleinflation.\nThis place is perfect for group gathering and for special occasions like when you ace your tough exams!! I highlyrecommend this place. Read more
