Reviews for Grand Central Bakery in Seattle, WA

They have a nice selection of baked goods and sandwiches, and are consistent with the other Grand Central Bakeries. This one has... some mind boggling time management issues though - expected wait times for a cup of soup or an uncooked sandwich are regularlyover an hour at lunch time. And they often take longer than the prediction. Unusable as a lunch spot without prep work so Idon't go anymore! Read more

If you want to stand in line and watch 11 employees stand around while one inefficient cashier takes a long time to help each... customer, this is the place. They were out of biscuits so i could not order what I planned too . The quiche was ok but in agrocery store kind of way. The coffee was hot. That last thing is about the only good thing I have to say about thisexperience. I live in the neighborhood and really wanted it to be good. I won?t go back. Read more

Poor choices today at 9:35 am ?.at an otherwise excellent business with a sublime product and cheery, energetic staff. ?The Big... Order? pickup order came in this morning and the walk in customers were indubitably a far distant afterthought. The unfortunatefellow behind us waited in line for an egg sandwich to be told it would be 45 minute wait for his simple egg sandwich becausethey were busy cooking for ?The Big Order?. The correct answer/solution: The Big Order group should have been told it wouldtake an extra 15 minutes to complete their order so the many loyal walk in customers would receive due and appropriateattention. I understand that Brad Pitt and his entourage was hungry for their ?Big Order? of egg biscuits, but so was thelittle fella in his flip flops who waited in line for 15 minutes only to receive such sad ?sorry, you?re a little nobody? news. He was still in the game but then walked out as they then went on and refused to make him some coffee drink to which he wasaccustomed because of ?The Big Order?. My story is only slightly better: the staff was brewing a HUGE pot of drip decaf coffeeas the pot was so clearly marked. As a simple country boy relocating from Tacoma to Moses Lake a few years ago for careeropportunities, I have regressed to plain old drip coffee and also drink decaf. Yet I was refused even a small cup of drip decafjoe because I was told it was reserved for ?The Big Order.? I really do doubt that Harry and Megan and their posse would miss10 ounces of decaf coffee out of a 3 gallon decanter. Then I asked for my egg quiche to be warmed up and was told it wasalready hot enough. Not wanting conflict, I shrugged it off and took the quiche. It wasn?t hot enough. Bummer day for usbecause as the simple country folk we now are, living in Moses Lake, when in Seattle we make it a point to be patrons of thisbusiness. Since this is overall a fine (actually, excellent) business we would note that in refusing us and other Read more

Great selection of pastries. Loved the fresh fruit coffee cake. Our breakfast sandwich was ok - the biscuit and sausage were... both a little hard. Americano was tasty! Very clean and nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Read more

A great lunch spot for quality sandwiches! Friendly staff, lots of seating. All the sandwiches I?ve tried have been fantastic. ... I think it is because they use delicious fresh baked bread, which is the foundation of a great sandwich. Expect most of theirsandwiches to be very traditional combinations, with only a couple specials that are more unique. The lunch hour rush can havelong lines sometimes and I wouldn?t expect to pop in and out too quickly. I normally expect ordering and getting my food totake about 20min. They also will sell out of many pastries and even sometimes some sandwiches by the end of the lunch hour, around 1. Because all their sandwiches are so good, it normally doesn?t bother me. Read more

This is one of our favorite places to go to. We absolutely love all of the different pastries we've had. They make amazing... bread. And the coffee is delicious. I can't even tell you how many times I've been there now. Read more

I love Grand Central! I fell in love with the bakery when I used to live in Portland and it is my favorite bakery there. Now in... Seattle where it originated, the variety and quality of their stuff are just as excellent. High quality breads at veryreasonable prices, it's the only brand I would get if I get a bread at a grocery store. At their own cafes, they also have awide range of pastries, they are tasty and hearty, good values for what you pay. I just wish their locations are a little bitmore convenient :) Read more
