Reviews for COMMUNION Restaurant & Bar in Seattle, WA
The starters and appetizers were delicious. The deviled eggs had fun toppings and the sauce the clams were in was irresistible.... The cocktails were balanced and tasty. The main entrees were good, but a little disappointing. The jambalaya was tasty. Ithad a good level of heat and depth of flavor. The ginger chicken was juicy and light on flavor. We all felt the entrees werenice but not special. Their price is special though (read: pricey). If the entrees had the same irresistible flavor as theclamb appetizer, I wouldn't be able to wait to come back. As it stands, I am just glad I tried it. Read more
There is a reason this place is hard to get into. The food is incredible, the staff is so sweet and the atmosphere is a vibe. It... is family style dining, so go with a group and experience a little bit of everything. They make strong drinks that pairexceptionally well with their food and the banana pudding came in a cute mason jar to take to go! Definitely make a reservationahead of time, or get there right at open. You won’t be disappointed. Read more
This food was so amazing! I ate not so great food the day before and I was hoping to make up for it. This place surpassed my... expectations. We were seated quickly and the staff was so friendly. We ordered ginger chicken, wings, sushi, pork chops, shrimptoast cornbread and Mac and cheese. I can't say what my favorite was because it was all so great. Read more
I see why this place is always booked! The food was amazing! We started off with the 'hood sushi' which is super delicious and... creamy, the catfish wasn't too overwhelming and balanced out the rest of the roll. The dipping sauce on the side complements thedish well. The Bayou Teche, which is an eggplant dish, was exceptional! If your budget isn't too flexible, I recommend sharingthe dish. This place has pescatarian and vegetarian dishes, which is great for those with these dietary preferences. The drinksare well made and incorporate Black owned spirits! If you are able to get a reservation at Communion it is definitely worth it! Read more
Really liked the food here. The fried chicken was amazing (so juicy! so tasty with the hot sauce!) and the banana pudding was to... die for. Like it was so good. Other reviews said the catfish grits was great but I thought it was just fine. The grits werewatery and the catfish was pretty good but nothing to write home about. The Mac and cheese was great (it had a kick which wasreally cool) and I also thought the cornbread was really solid, worth getting. Grilled okra was good but a littlesalty. Overall the fried chicken and banana pudding made the meal worth it and the cornbread and the mac and cheese were bothreally good too. Was a bit disappointed by the catfish and okra based on other reviews but they were fine. I'd definitely comeagain! Oh also we came at 5:40 for the walk up and got a table in 15-20 mins, I think because of a reservation cancellation. They said it could take an hour and a half without any cancellations which I didn't understand because there was only one otherparty ahead of us and there was a bar that would open up. Anyway the walk up was fine but you may have to get lucky waiting onsomeone to cancel, which seems pretty frequent since people just nab reservations way ahead of time here. Read more
Finally got to try this restaurant and it was so yummy. Luckily got a reservation and were seated promptly. The menu is a QR... code which was easy to use and read. Got 4 appetizers and 3 mains which was enough for 4 people. The hood sushi was good, uniqueflavors and all. The shrimp toast was really good, a tad bit too done for me. Chicken wings has flavor but wish it was morejuicy. Mac and cheese had a lot of flavor, better than expected. The mains were all amazing and unique in their own ways. First I have to say the catfish and grits was one of the best dishes I’ve had! Unique and so flavorful. A lot of the... appetizers were amazing as well (except the hood sushi wasn’t as impressive as I’d hoped). Overall I was impressed with thefood but not as much the ambience. I felt like I had to shout to communicate with those at my table because the music and crowdwas so loud and the service was on the slower side. They were also out of almost all the desserts which was a bummer. Prettypricey for what it was but glad I was able to try this spot! Read more
We had been waiting months to land reservations at a time that actually worked for our schedules, and were so happy to have it... finally work out. Above all, the atmosphere of this restaurant can't be beat. So lively and a wonderful vibe. Truthfully, theappetizers were the best part of the meal: deviled eggs and shrimp toast. We ate them so fast we didn't even remember to take apicture. The fried oyster deviled eggs are a combo I didn't even know I needed in my life, but were amazing. From there we wentwith the pork chop and entree and Bayou Teche (special on menu). Both entrees were good, but not spectacular like theappetizers. We had the mac and cheese and collard greens for sides and, like the appetizers, were better than the entrees.Cocktails were reasonably priced, and good. Unfortunately by the time we got to dessert everything was already sold out, sodidn't get to try anything. As others have said, the cost is a little pricey (even on Seattle standards), but 100% still worthgoing. Read more
