If you?re a person of color or anybody who just loves flavor in their food this is not the Restaurant to go to I have spoke with... the NAACP an hired attorney to file suit against this place they were very unprofessional there food was nasty .owner told methat he wasn?t the owner he was only a manager .the worker that works there is just horrible does not do tent to customers blackcustomers that is she stated that she?ll pay for the food once I ask for my charge since the food was Burt and nasty. But when Igot up to leave they called the police cause I told them I was going to write a review being a restaurant owner myself this wasjust not excitable.yhey told the police that I stole food from there which they know all the offices by name remember this issix dollars worth of food.I had six to ten police officers called on me. We stopped at this place because it was convenient to our location as we were traveling home from Houston. Now that we've eaten... there, we are flabbergasted at the high reviews for this place. To start with some positive things, the menu was quite extensivewith a lot of choices and the food came out very quickly. However, everything was overcooked. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimpwith french fries and they were both just shy of being burned. My daughter got the jumbo shrimp, which was fine. My wife got theSweet and Spicy Chicken, which was so inedible she stopped trying after a few bites. This is a gem of a restaurant. We were greeted at the door, seated promptly and given menus. River Hills is welcoming, clean and... family friendly. Their menu offers a generous selection of foods. Our waitress, Leslie came to take our drink order and answerany questions. My husband ordered the Blackened Catfish with Etoufee, broccoli and fries. He had a cup of gumbo. I had thecatfish with double order of broccoli (choice of two veggies), and we both had salads, which come with the orders. So, that is alot of food and it was delicious. So good! The fish was just right and fresh, the broccoli was cooked to protection. We bothtook home a little. Leslie was very attentive and helpful. The lady that owns it, I think, was so nice. Great atmosphere!Wecan't wait to go back again to try different dishes. The restaurant is attached to a large convince gas station, but don't letthat detour you. Fantastic food and service! Don?t let the fact that they are located in a Valero truck stop on I10 fool you. Best food I?ve had... in a long time. Steak, shrimp, salmon, fresh veggies and salad were all amazing. Our waitress was so friendly! The chef is aculinary expert! Everything is made fresh and from scratch.
