Reviews for The Batteau in Scottsville, VA
Amazing food served in a cozy dining room in quaint downtown Scottsville. I had a perfect roasted lamb and the appetizer of... fried pork roll was incredible. Looking forward to coming back and trying the ample selection of wines as I was taking a soberbreak when I visited! Read more
Really, really wanted to love this place, but average food for way above average prices. The $18 burger and fries is not as... good as the $12 burger at nearby Tavern on the James, the $9 burger night burger at Spring Creek Country Club in Zion Crossroadsis way better! $34 Shrimp Etoufee is OK, but will not make you think of the Big Easy. $18 crab cake shredded not lump - ouch!Good wine selection - overpriced. Nice folks, pleasant place, but too expensive for what you get. Read more

We had a nice experience and the food was pretty good. However the issue is really the cost for what you get. We do not mind... splurging on a meal once in a while, but it just seems this restaurant is way overpriced for what it is. For example a crabcake meal is $46. It sounded delicious, but at many high end restaurants you can get a wonderful special like this in the $20sor $30s. The menu is also a little odd, as the french fries as a menu item are $13, but if you buy those you can do add ons, such as a crab cake or chicken. Why not have those items be the menu item and they come with fries or potatoes? I just felt wespent so much for so little food, and even though we enjoyed the food and the service it makes it really hard to be a repeatcustomer. I am guessing it is why the restaurant is not busier as the food could be well worth the visit. Read more
