During our visit to the Phoenix area we decided to try this Italian place which was across the street from our hotel. We... stumbled onto a real gem. The food was excellent and ambiance was pleasant. The most special part of our meal was our server,Will. He mentioned that he had only been working there for 2 1/2 weeks, but would never have guessed from his knowledge of themenu. His recommendations were on point and his manner was very friendly. We felt right at home. Overall this was a wonderfulexperience thanks in large part to Will. I also want shoutout Hector (the food runner). It was impressive to watch him movewith such speed and confidence throughout the restaurant. Will and Hector were the perfect team. This review is for the service - not the food. Decided to have lunch with my grandmother here for my birthday. The minute we... walked in the door, I felt uncomfortable by the lack of welcome from the staff. It was the Manager (possibly the owner as well)who didn't even welcome us in. Just said, "How many? Two?" My grandmother wanted to sit in the back room to be more privatesince we were there to celebrate. He kept cutting her off, not allowing her to speak and said they want to keep all the guestsin the main dining area. Then when she asked if we could sit at a different table so she would be more comfortable, he huffedand said that anywhere we sat would be around other people - again, not allowing her to speak and tell him WHY she wanted adifferent table. Our server, Silvana, was not much kinder. Both she and the manager seemed like we were just ruining their daychatting with their friends and regulars. Everyone else that walked through the doors were greeted with "Hi! How are you?!Welcome in/back". They have issues with consistency in accommodation and service here. My family had been there a few timesbefore and were graciously allowed to make substitutions and the chef even prepared a dinner dish for them as a lunch with zeroproblems. When my grandmother wanted to have a side of pasta with her meal this time instead of mashed potatoes, she, again, wasimmediately cut off by our server saying "absolutely no substitutions". Well ok. She was willing to buy a side of pasta, butkept getting told no substitutions. The only good part of our lunch was Alfredo and the food. That's it. When my grandmotherasked to speak with the manager, he came over, and continued to just make excuses instead of making it RIGHT. What a lovely mom and pop restraunt. I felt as though I was seating in one of those Italian restaurants on the God Father's.... Waitress dresses in black anf whites was well knowledgeable of the menu able to give detailed information of the constancy,mainingredients and served everything very professional ( which is very rare) the food was very good and enjoyable to my palate.Mmmm !! Great experience with Veneto Trattoria. Ordered pasta, carpaccio, soups, sea bass there, some deserts. It all costs every penny... of its price - super tasty, fresh, served beautiful. Exceptional Venetian style dining! Pics are of the scallop & avocado salad and pasta in Bolognese sauce. Scallops were crispy... outside and tender inside, nicely cooked. Bolognese sauce was rich and meaty, as it should be. Friendly and professional servicein a warm atmosphere. Read more
