I live in Santa Fe, NM and we have great fresh, organic food there, but Forno was outstanding. Food is phenomenal! I had the... Gnocci and its was perfect. The salad we shared, hearts of palm and fennel? dressing fantastic and light. Initially I wasskeptical but this was hands down one of the best restaurants.Portions are plentiful and easily shared. It was the last evening of our trip through AZ and it was an absolute highlight. Everybody was super kind and attentive. The... food was completely out of this world. I?ve been a lot to Italy in my life but that was some amazing, authentic Italian food. Byfar the best Italian Restaurant I?ve been to in the US and one of the best over all. Wow. 10 Stars. I will probably have to fly to Italy for another meal like this. I was visiting friends and this was the first... place they brought me. Not only is the staff incredible but the ambience is awesome. Make sure to order some limoncello shots,it?s homemade. We started with bruschetta prosciutto, then gnocchi with pesto, and an heirloom tomato pizza with freshmozzarella. This was a pleasant surprise! We loved Slice eat, especially in the earlier days. It did go downhill some in the later days.... When I saw that it had closed I was bummed but figured that was the end of it. Not long ago I drove by and saw the "Forno 301"sign and got excited. I'd heard great things about the Phoenix location and knew the owner had a hit there so it made sense tokeep the concept going as it was already successful. My wife and I dined in and sat at the bar. The Italian gentleman tendingthe bar was super friendly and knowledgeable about the restaurant and menu. Not sure if staff work in this and the Phoenixlocation but the service here is on another level than Slice Eat offered. That was a fast casual and this is more sit downdining. We were impressed with how well they all seemed to keep things moving including the kitchen. We had to order the pizzaand mista salad as those were favorites from Slice Eat. They were the best of what we remember and more. I also ordered thepesto gnocchi and can say it was the best I've ever had. The gnocchi were lighter and fluffier than I've had which was adelight. The pesto was the essence of basil and fresh garlic. I will absolutely order that again. The bartender poured somelimoncello for dessert, which we loved. They are really going above and beyond here and want return business. There won't be anyissues getting that here. The dining room isn't large so maybe plan ahead or opt for the drive thru that offers the same menu.I'm so glad they didn't give up on this location as we really needed more options like this in the area. I was bummed when the original concept (Slice Eat) didn?t live up to the Forno 301 brand but I?m happy to say that they?ve made... the smart move replicating their original location. The pizza is delicious, quick and super easy with the drive thru. Reallyhoping this is a sign of better options surviving in this neighborhood! Read more
When I saw the ?Modern Italian Drive-thru? sign, I just had to try it and omg I?m glad I did! The food and service were... absolutely top-notch, my only regret is not looking at the menu beforehand because there are so many other options that I wantto try! I have been familiar with Forno 301 since their original 301 location downtown. I was skeptical if a branch in south Scottsdale... could be as good. But it absolutely was and they have a drive through where you can order their whole menu with a short wait.The inside was nice. I can?t wait for the cooler weather since their outdoor space looked very comfortable! So glad they openedin our neighborhood. Read more
THIS IS THE NEW HOT SPOT OF OLD TOWN SCOTTSDALE. We had a Margherita Pizza and Panino con Tracchino. The pizza was delectable.... The crust was perfect. The Panino was more than one person could eat! Come for the food, stay for the atmosphere. They have agreat dog friendly patio and bar. Read more
