We?re finally done with AJs. The deli staff is always rude and dismissive. Rare smiles. It?s like they?re being forced to do... their jobs and would rather be anywhere else then serving customers. Yesterday we bought the ?applewood smoked ham? that weusually buy at Safeway (which is delicious) but the stuff we bought from AJs was salty, over-processed and tasted like bologna.We threw it out. We?ve believed for years that AJs was a rip off with good food. Now AJs is a rip off with bad food and badservice. We?ve lived here for 20 years and used to go to AJs regularly. Friendly staff and clean store. Love the morning pastries. Brownies are great not to dense or light. Prices are high but the... quality is there. The grilled burgers smoky and tasty and BIG. AJ?s grill serves up a tasty burger and Cajun chicken sandwich. Fresh and easy and it always manages to hit the spot. Chris is... super friendly and offers service with a smile. Yes sometimes the grill can get behind but I?ve been in several times this monthand the wait time is usually under 15 minutes. I have tried the sides but I?m sure they are good. Read more
We had lunch on the outdoor patio today. Although the taste was good, getting a burger this red when I ordered it well done is... very disappointing. Ground meats have a much higher risk of foodborne illness, so it's important to cook them thoroughly. I'mprobably not going to take my chances again. This was my first visit. Read more
SLOOOOOOWW service everywhere, from cashiers (which charged my mom $8 for greeting cards and then didn't even put them in her... bag) to bakery (where employees stand around chit-chatting with each other for upwards of 10 minutes instead of helpingcustomers - today, the bakery team was openly speculating about their customers' salaries, with 1 bakery employee saying that acustomer "must earn at least $200,000" - uh, yeah, maybe because that customer does his job when he's at work instead ofstanding around idly chit-chatting!!!). This happened today, even after I had complained to a purported "manager" yesterday(some guy stocking shelves said "sure" when I asked if he was the manager), so... reports to "management" don't do any good.Better have your WHOLE day available before going in here!
