We came here for a weekend lunch. Was spell bound by the awesome interiors. There is so much to gawk at while waiting for your... food to arrive. This restaurant is truly one of the beautiful restaurants in the Soo. We ordered some Gobi Manchurian, Dosa andBiriyani. The dishes were alright. The Biriyani could have been better as it appeared more like a soggy rice mixture. We wereserved by Swapna and she was very attentive and took good care of us. Definitely recommend the restaurant if you are in the Sooarea and looking for Indian food. Read more

We order online and received totally different from what we ordered. Received 2 naan when we ordered only 1 and received 1 roti... when we ordered 2 Rosie's. We ordered onion with vinegar and received onion with whole ginger roots. Food portions were verysmall. Not happy with the service at all... Read more

After a busy weekend, and 8hrs on the road, myself a 4 teammates stopped at The Taj looking for a supper. We were greeted with... warmth and asked if we had a reservation. As we didn't have a reservation, we thought we would be out of luck as the restaurantwas quite busy; however, Walter only needed a minute to sort out where they could seat us. The food was amazing and the servicewas exceptional! The Taj will be on my list when visiting Sault Ste Marie in the future. Read more

The worst Indian restaurant in Canada. It’s not even Indian restaurant the owner is a Sri Lankan. The Roti is made up of some... other stuff . Please be aware. ITS NOT THE TRADITIONAL INDIAN ROTI at all . Chana masala and butter paneer masala taste likefrozen food. Paan also feels like a frozen one. Don’t waste your taste and money here. Really not worth spending any pennyhere. Read more

My family stopped here on our way north for vacation. The food and service was so fantastic that we made a point to stop here on... our way back home. We love Indian food and this is the best we’ve had. The owner made us an absolutely divine tea from scratchand welcomed us as if we were old friends. We had the chicken dosa, tika masala with naan, vegetable biryani, onion bhaj, tajcuppy vegetable curry, mango lasi, and tea. Every single dish was perfect and I would order again. I’m getting hungry justthinking about this place. It’s delightful- just go! Read more

Visited The Taj a couple weeks ago for the first time as I was visiting a friend of mine in the Sault. Being from Barrie and the... GTA area and having family from India, I have definitely tasted a lot of Indian food and dosas to be exact. I was lookingforward to trying their masala dosa when I saw it on their menu. I am also vegan so I spoke to the manager about omitting gheefrom the dosa and he was understanding and more than willing to accommodate my needs. So I ended up ordering the masala dosa(with no ghee) and the Gobi (Cauliflower) 65. When the food was brought out, the manager came and let me know that the chef didindeed make the dosa without ghee, that they fried the cauliflower in fresh oil, and that the chef even changed his apron toensure no contamination with animal products! How amazing is that! I thanked him and told him I really appreciated hisefforts. I was already pleased with the service but to top it off, the food did not disappoint at all! They definitely make atasty dosa and their sambar is very nice. The only things that could be improved are the potato portion in the dosa (less thanwhat I’ve seen compared to other places) and the flavour of the tomato chutney. The tomato chutney tasted too much like tomatosauce in my opinion and not like an Indian style tomato chutney. All in all, if you’re looking for some good quality dosa andIndian food, this is a great place to visit! Thanks for a lovely experience guys!! Read more
