Reviews for Cora's Coffee Shoppe in Santa Monica, CA
I have been coming to this place for years. I hadn?t been in a while. Our server Gilbert was angry and rude from the start. It... was as if he couldn?t be bothered with us. We had asked for water without ice, he brought ice and when I asked if we couldplease have it with no ice he said nothing, walked away and returned. After we ordered, I walked inside to add an order ofpancakes for when we finished our main course. We had finished and he walked by my table and all his other tables sayingnothing. Waters empty, napkins on plates. The lady at the table across the way stopped another server and said she had seenGilbert and that she had asked for sour cream. The next thing that happened was someone dropped off our check and I asked for amanager. I have to be transparent to say that when the manager came I was upset so I started harshly. I got as clear as I couldon what happened and what I was wanting and he said ?if you don?t like the way we do things here, I?ll just pay for yourbreakfast and you can leave?. I had simply asked that he evaluate Gilbert and TG at he didn?t seem like a fit for a serverposition and so we left, no water, no pancakes, and after 10+ years of going to this restaurant I will never go again. It?s sadthat you go to a table service restaurant to pay a relatively high price for breakfast and you the guest are not valued or seenas a guest. Good luck and hopefully ownership sees this and can turn around the guest experience. Read more
Overall a good like coffee shoppe; I was a little surprised they told me they couldn?t add a pump of vanilla to my coffee yet... they have macchiato?s on their menu. The outdoor seating area was nice, service was efficient, and a very easy walk from thebeach & pier. I ordered the Brioche French Toast with poached eggs and breakfast sausage. I ended up moving the poached eggsover to the plate with the breakfast sausage and added syrup to the French toast; it was pretty good! My friend enjoyed herbreakfast burrito as well. Read more

Great traditional Jewish deli. I had the hot corned beef on rye. It tasted exactly like a good deli corned beef sandwich should... taste. I will definitely be back. Read more
This is a cute little spot only about a block from the beach on a busy road. Despite that, they've managed to create a nice... space that while outdoors (covid safe), is really cozy with pretty ambiance. The good : the staff are very friendly and the foodis tasty. I had a homemade tortilla that was incredible. There is also a parking lot which is pretty rare in this area. The bad:slow service with perhaps overworked staff (eg took a few asks and a lot of time to get a glass of water) and very steep pricesfor what you get. $10 for an orange juice (!!) and a teensy cappuccino (almost espresso cup sized) for 6.50. At breakfast somethings don't come with sides ($16 pancakes are literally just a few pancakes). No kids menu but there are kid friendly options. If you are by the beach and want to find a quiet spot nearby with great Mexican food and you don't mind the price, this is agood choice. Read more

I hate to say it but this place is not good. Coffee was bitter. Their menu is weird - it says eggs Benedict, but then they tell... you it?s made with Salmon? ok so not eggs Benedict then? We waited SO long for our food, with no explanation until after like 25minutes when he brought us a croissant (which was nice) and told us they had to make more creamed spinach for the Benedict? ??Also not stated in the menu that?s a part of that meal. When we got the food it was disappointing. The Benedict basically justtasted of salt and nothing else. Also we were seated next to the bush on the front which is totally diseased with like aphidsthat kept dropping on our table. Finally, the prices were outrageous. $6.50 for a cappuccino? like $25 for eggs? this place is atrap for the tourists at the hotels. Waitstaff is extremely lovely?. But that?s the only good thing.
