Located in the stunning Santa Monica Proper Hotel - the design of this place is just amazing. Went for lunch and ordered... appetizers to share and individual entrees. I recommend the spreads and the burger. Portions are pretty small and prices arehigh. Service was slow but friendly. Views are spectacular. Would definitely come back to have a drink at the bar and watch thesunset. Read more

Loved my experience here. The vibe is very good and you can hang out at the Proper hotel lobby before or after! Food and drinks... are great too. First time visiting, and was very impressed with the food and service I received. Myself along with 4 others visited on a... Saturday. We did have a reservation, and were quickly seated. Stunning views of the city, and an umbrella to block the mid daysun. Our server was a man by the name of Everett, he was kind and incredibly professional. Calabra is a super cute rooftop spot located in The Proper Hotel. It’s decorated with an abundance of plants and wood finishes... that make this patio is modern, inviting and trendy. They play a great mix of music to keep the energy upbeat. The drinks weredelicious. For drinks, we had the Sandia Punch and the AmeriCabo. Both were light & delicious. To eat, we ordered the hummuswhich had a nice smoked flavor from the paprika oil. It was served with soft, warm seasoned naan. We also had the chicken kebabswhich had a nice char on the outside and were tender, juicy and flavorful. The mustard dipping sauce was a perfect pairing. Stunning hotel! The interior design and rooftop was breathtaking! One of the best in LA! The service was incredible and the... waitstaff was top notch. Parking on the street or valet was easy. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because I was notimpressed by the food. The menu was really small and I was really hungry. I kept having to order more. I would have liked to seemore on the menu and more variety. For such an impressive restaurant I expected the food to impress me just as much. I will begoing back for the ambiance and service and hopefully there will be new items added to the menu. Read more

The restaurant is located at the top floor of the Santa Monica Proper Hotel, a boutique luxury hotel. The decor is in the hotel... looks nice. Once you get to the hotel, you can tell the front desk you are going to the restaurant and they will swipe you intothe elevator. We came here for a weekend brunch and enjoyed the food and ambiance here. I recommend the egg white frittata. Youcan view the Santa Monica skyline from the patio. Street parking is available nearby. Really great experience, dining and drinking at Calabra! Staff at the Proper Hotel are friendly, attentive and wonderful. The... service is naturally brilliant.
