Reviews for Opulence Indian Food in Santa Cruz, CA
The food was good, but the customer service was amazing. My food fell off the table and the owner graciously have me a new plate... free of charge. Please check out this cute sidewalk stand when you are in downtown Santa Cruz! Read more
Sunni was very kind (on my birthday, too!) and made me special fried little balls of sweetness for dessert. Yummy! I had... lentils, my friend and I both had dosas, she had samosas, and I have had the lassi before--also good--but this time I had thechai. His chai is not the really sweet kind Americans are used to in Starbucks, but the type Indians actually drink. So if youorder expecting it to be like Starbucks, you will be disappointed. It is chai. Chai means tea. He's a chatty, amiable man,and we enjoyed the afternoon by taking in the homey, delicious food this kind and sweet man offers up. Read more
Please do not fall for reviews? Based on reviews, I wanted to give it a try. But sorry I have never been this disappointed with... food ever. Samber tasted like yellow water with veggies. And it was expensive. Potato filling was white, absolutely bland.. Imentioned it to the owner. He said he added water as samber was thick.. seriously!! I asked him if he has fresh chai.. again ittasted like tea bag in water. Absolute waste of money and time . Read more

The taste of the food is nothing close to what a good South Indian food tastes like. The taste of food is very subjective, so... feel free to try it out yourself. I would say the frozen food from any Indian store tastes better. But if you are not lookingfor a great taste and just need a quick bite, may be its good for that. Located on the sidewalk in the downtown, it has somelimited seating options. The lemon iced tea was such a joke. Good for vegetarians. The owner is nice, chatty guy though but thefood could do better. Verdict: Utterly disappointed Read more
