Not sure it lives up to the hype but it was a nice change from thin crust pizza. The dough is thick and very filling. I ordered... pepperoni- thought the sauce was a bit sweet and not much cheese, but lots of pepperoni (maybe too much?) and the pie was cookedto a perfect crispy perfection. The ranch was delicious and garlicky. I would order here again and try another pie, a bit priceyfor one person maybe (not if you share) and the ambiance of the ale house was not for me, but everyone in there was having agood time and parking was easy. On 10/2/22, came here for the brewery (which was exceptional) and was going to bring in a carry-out pizza, but didn\'t realize... this pizza place was right inside the brewery! I saw this place had a 5.0 rating with like 30 reviews and honestly I didn\'ttrust that thinking it might have been rigged. But whoa-it is legit! This is by far the very best pizza I have had in my entirelife...that\'s many decades! High quality, excellent topping concoctions. The cornmeal, I believe, in the crust really adds alot. If only I could get this pizza again, but being over 2,000 miles from home I probably won\'t get the pleasure again. Iwill miss you and dream about you often Bookie\'s Pizza. Read more
Nice atmosphere but very loud..maybe not the best place if you\'re expecting more quiet. Make sure to order food at the bar and... not at the kitchen or you may annoy the main chef trying to do his job. Probably the best pizza I\'ve eaten so far. Niceinterior design and unique layout with the custom long tables. I don\'t drink alcohol but would return here for the food andexcellent layout inside. But whoever thought of placing multiple restrooms really added to the experience. And they\'re realclean. That alone tells alot about this place. Very thoughtful in the details. Read more
I have had many many pizzas in my life this is probably the best pizza I have ever had. I normally like thin crust napolian... style pizza but this crust is something to behold. Decided to stop in last night and give Bookies a try after reading all the good reviews. This place is the real deal! As others... have said, this could arguably be the best pizza in Santa Cruz. Service was top notch, pizza was amazing and the beers are greatas well. The pizza is a little pricey but definitely worth it. My wife and I split a pizza to ourselves and could only eat 4 ofthe 6 slices they give you. Will definitely be back! Read more
Delicious. Literally some of the greatest tasting bites in memory. I was hoping it was going to be good and was beyond happy to... not be let down.\n\nI\'m still a little beyond myself with this experience.\nI grew up near Chicago and have been eating pizzasince before I was born.\nI\'m a meat eater but not able to eat cheese now so I got the vegan pie.\nHoly cow!
