Great experience at Augie’s! I got the four course fixed menu for 75$ and was delighted by the food there! The three mole... tasting offered a great introduction to different types of mole. The desert was an incredibly artistic candied bubblesurrounding a flan that was just as equally tasteful as it was creative. Excited to go back soon! Read more

If you value high-quality ingredients and immense attention to detail, then Augie\'s is the right place for you. I\'ll... confidently say that the best meal I\'ve eaten in Santa Barbara was here. I was really impressed by how intentional everythingis at this restaurant. Everything from the decor, to the wait-staff, to the food and drink itself. You know that the chef andowner have spent countless hours going through every single little thing and it shows! I don\'t think the other reviews are afair representation of this establishment, and to me, indicates that they don\'t understand luxury. Luxury to me means choosingthe highest quality ingredients, extreme attention to detail, and memorable customer service, something that Augie\'sexemplifies. Could not recommend more if you\'re looking for fine dining on State St. Read more

I really have little clue why people were disappointed in Augie\'s. It is, of course, a new restaurant and there are a few kinks... to be worked out but absolutely nothing that would interfere with the dining experience. The ambience was beautiful and the foodwas absolutely delicious. They were doing a $75 fixed menu with a selection from 4 courses and I was pleasantly surprised withevery dish. I started off with the tuna tiradito which was fresh, succulent, and beautifully presented. My fiancée had the porkbelly. The pork belly was delicious and rich with a great crust and it went incredibly with their Spanish Gin + Tonic. The ginthey use is super aromatic and delicious. Of course, I had to try some tequila out of their 300+ selections and, believe me,I\'ll be back to try more. The server was super helpful in navigating my options and recommending tequilas at different pricepoints. I had a Llamalo which is a marg where you can select the tequila and you just pay the 2 oz price which I thought wasreally clever. I got the Tapatio tequila because I was looking for something a little less expensive and it came out to $12. Thesecond course was probably my favorite. I had the gobernador {shrimp} taco. It was cooked to perfection and I haven\'t had abetter taco in my life. My date had the octopus taco which was incredible texturally and very rich flavor-wise. My main dish wasa carne asada and it blew me away just as much as everything else. For dessert, I had the jericalla which was presentedbeautifully with a little sugar globe on top. By the end, I was stuffed and was sent warmly on my way. I have told everyone inearshot about Augie\'s ever since. I wonder why some reviews have been negative because this is fresh, delicious food authenticto Guadalajara. I don\'t know if others expected burritos/ enchiladas but I don\'t think they would be so shocked by the priceif they were walking into a fine dining French/Italian joint. I can\'t wait to go back and see what Read more

Had the pleasure of visiting this new spot last week, and it did not disappoint! Having grown up in Santa Barbara I’m always a... little hesitant about new restaurants, but Augie’s is truly my new favorite restaurant in town. Best atmosphere, tequilaselection, and food. Being vegetarian there tends to be limited options, but I tried the best jackfruit tacos for the firsttime, and they were amazing! Can’t say enough good things about this place! Read more

I feel bad because I wanted to like Angie’s. I’m happy to see a local restaurant giving a platform to CA agave spirits.... Unfortunately I have to echo previous reviews, the food was both inconsistent and a bit bland and the drinks lacked consistency. We had a party of 10, everyone felt the food lacked flavor and was very flat in its flavor profile (even the salas were barelyindistinguishable from each other). The food is also insanely overpriced for the tiny portions; we ordered a second course andthe server accidentally brought out a similar main dish, they were the same size and the only difference was the sauce, the mainwas $14 more. The courses were meant to shared (at least that’s what we were told) and are too small to share unless you arevery close to the people next to you, think a single taco on smaller than average tortilla. The drinks were thankfully prettygood, but lacked consistency. Within the same member of the group one drink was strong and the next weak. Angie’s has a lot ofpotential, but is very lackluster; hopefully this is growing pains and they rise to their potential (unfortunately won’thappen at this price point). Read more

This place is way too expensive for what you get. $160 for two drinks, churros, Mac, bone marrow and chicken tingy. I was... excited to try this place but once I saw the plate put in front of me I thought it was a mistake. Was this a small appetizer orthe 30 dinner portion?!?\nMac had very little flavor and was the biggest disappointment.\nBone marrow was good but nothingspecial.\nChicken tingy also had no flavor and only one for that price.\nFries had great flavor, shocking because nothing elsedid. But they were all the bottom fries it seemed. You know the small crumb pieces.\nChurros were basic. The chocolate sauce wasgood. But the other sauce I’m guessing was supposed to be caramel but was not fully done. Tasted like sugar water.\nOrangebliss I think it was call was my drink tasted like a la croix with a hint of tequila.\nMargarita was my gf drink and wasok.\nOverall do not was your time going here unless you are bored and want to waste money. The happy hour was priced like a full price menu for both cocktails and food. The ambiance was very nice. Thought the cocktails... were great. Food was tasty but portions were small. 1st week open so hopefully will improve quickly. Read more

We were wandering around santa barbara looking for dinner and stumbled upon this place, which supposedly is in their soft... pre-opening phase right now. Environment, decor, and ambiance are a 8/10. We started with a tequila and mezcal flight, whichwere very good. The agave spirit selection is a 9.5/10. Not sure if it’s just their pre-opening menu or if this is how it willbe, but they have a pre-selected meal that is $70/person, you have 2-3 choices for each course. The food was sadly a 2/10.Sauces were tasteless, meat was either not good cuts or overcooked, dessert was tasteless, portions were tiny for the poorquality and high cost. I had the beet gelato that tasted more like earth than an ice cream. My girlfriend got the churros whichwere really undercooked and doughy - couldn’t even eat them. We expressed our concerns with our dishes to our server and westill got sent the full bill. Out the door we were over $400. Our server was amazing but even with the manager and ownerin-house that night, we expected to at least be compensated a little bit for the poor food. Service was a 6/10. Overall rating5/10 and would not return unless only for a cocktail or tequila flight. Very hopeful they figure out the food situation becausethis restaurant has the potential to be a great addition to the area. Read more
