Nice people, but the ice cream is lackluster and doesn?t taste homemade. Very typical and not very flavorful. We had a cookies... and cream, an Oreo cheesecake, a peanut butter chocolate, and a chewy chocolate. My opinion is that it?s not worth the calories.We ended up throwing it out. They also don?t let you try flavors, which I couldn?t believe. We were only allowed to try a flavorbecause it wasn?t busy. These are only my opinions, of course. THE best homemade ice cream in South OC!! If you're craving a hot fudge sundae that will blow your mind, this is the place to... go. Fresh homemade ice cream, plenty of traditional hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream and don't forget that cherry! Perfectcombination in every bite, just perfect. The staff was super friendly and they've been doing this in the same location since1972. Took a quart home and of course we will be back Thank you Hans for a blast back to when quality ingredients and love goesinto your ice cream, makes you feel like a kid again. Read more
Like pretty much every business, I want this business to thrive. With that said, it looks like things are currently on track for... this place to go downhill unless some significant things are addressed. Here is why I (for now) am giving this place a 1 starreview. [This is a review based off of my 6/11/22 visit] *The ice cream tastes practically the same as much cheaper "grocerystore" ice cream. It doesn't taste bad or anything, but not premium. I ordered a cup of 2 scoops of Cookies & Cream ice creamwhich came out to $6.75 after tax. Also worth noting is they were not big scoops. For ice cream that I would not consider"premium" like other shops I have been to, this seems way overpriced since I can easily buy a gallon of the same quality Cookie& Cream ice cream again at the grocery store for the cost of 2 scoops at Han's. *No structure. When you walk in (at least whenI and the person I was with did), there is nothing that delineated where the line began or ended. It was literally just acluster of customers, with some looking at each other bewildered and asking where the back of the line was. As the full name ofthe sign of this shop is "Han's Ice Cream & Deli," they also advertise inside that they serve hot soup too. Because of this, theperson, I was with ordered their advertised split pea soup. They were flat out rejected and were told by the girl working thatthey stopped serving soup. Having worked in the food industry, I completely understand a "hot" kitchen closing prior to arestaurant/shop/bar closing. With that said, there was no signage visible stating the hours of when their advertised soup isserved. Even the girl didn't say when they stopped serving soup. When I ordered that 2 scoops of ice cream and the girl scoopedthem, I among that chaotic mob asked her where should I check out. BEST BANANA SPLIT IVE EVER HAD! *super friendly lady *not too sweet *not soaked in sugar coating/artificial syrup Banana... split: You can order traditional which is the good ol chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavor. OR You can pick 3 of yourown. I had ?butter brustle, vanilla honey, and coffee cookie? with all the topping that comes with it. Topping: strawberry,pineapple, cookie, chocolate syrup, almond, etc Surprisingly cherry wasn?t soaked in sugar nor did it taste artificial likemost places! This is a proper old style ice cream parlor, in taste, atmosphere, and price Great family friendly spot. Good seating, three... booths and several smaller tables. Shared an ice cream sundae because that's what you do in an ice cream parlor! We ordered atthe counter and they brought it to us at the table. Super friendly staff and try the butterscotch! I had high expectations because ?homemade? is in the name. I would have been disappointed if it didn?t have the smooth, rich,... extra creamy texture that I was expecting. Also, homemade ice cream has a rich sweetness that?s missed in mass-produced icecream. This place did not disappoint. It tasted slow-churned, thick, and creamy just like I had hoped. I couldn?t decide whichflavor to get since there were so many, but I decided on Peach. It was a very refreshing summer choice. I highly recommend thisplace to anyone in the area, and it might even be worth traveling to even if you?re not nearby. Read more
Delicious and quick. Nice environment inside, ample parking. All flavors we tried have been delicious. My favorite will always... be the Vietnamese Coffee but the berries are great too (tried them from the girlfriend?s order). This area has a lot ofrestaurants so it?s great to come have dinner and stop by for ice cream. They do serve some food items here as well. Read more
